Good blog. Great job staying positive,, even though all your points still in a roundabout way said the team/ organization stinks!! It is hard to stay positive on a sinking ship though!

They do stink now, but in the future they have Strome and Keller and Chychrun, deAngleo, Dvorak, Domi, Duclair, Fishcher, and of course a top five pick this year and OEL.

Things will be really great soon enough.

Great write up. Positive, Once in a while. Nice. Plus, Perlini is a beast! He is going to be really great. Can't wait until next year. My Yotes will be good soon. Hopefully.

if it ain't under 25 it should probably go.

5. Oliver Ekman-Larsson

He has ten goals, and 30 points in 53 games. That's a 46 point pace while his two most common partners are Connor Murphy and Luke Schenn, and the 'first line' consists of Martin Hanzal and Jagr's step-dad Radem Vrbata.

OEL's Top Five Ice Time Withs: 1. Murphy 2. Sen Dogg (AKA Luke Schenn) 3. Rieder 4. Vrbata 5. Doan

Or, to put it another way, he's a decent team and partner away from being the best defenseman in the NHL. He is truly great to watch night in and night out.

This seems a bit contradictory. Why should they get rid of such a fantastic player?

thanks and I agree.

I would be 100% less pissy about the Coyotes in general if Perlini and Dvorak got some actual top six minutes and more PP time than a bunch of geezers who won't be here soon.

Well good point, I see what you did there. They need to keep a few vets, I hope you take my point, even if that was a bit blunderous.

I know, just giving you some poop.

In general, they should try to move a bunch of their impending UFAs. But a full-on firesale where they essentially ice an AHL squad for the rest of the season isn't something I can get behind either. While it's important to recognize where you are or aren't, your pride as a coach and GM should still want to make you succeed on the ice in the present.

I strongly disagree. Go full Machiavellian and do what Toronto and Buffalo and others have also done.

The irony is that I suspect the Coyotes might actually be a better team after the deadline.

Hey Tanner Strome can score all the points he wants but how's his skating.. still look like his feet are sore? Does he play fast like Mitch Marner or slow like DS?

Pls for once tell us something we don't know..from Canada.

How is Mike Smith not positive number one, and why would they ever want to trade him? It's not like they have some young stud ready to take over or even anyone who's an NHL goalie.

There's nothing better for young players than to play in front of a top flight goalie every night, and the Coyotes could easily be a playoff team with Smith next year after they shed their dead weight. If they spend the next five years stockpiling high draft picks, they're going to lose everyone of value they currently have.

Nice job James. People complained you didn't do any positive blogs and you respond with a top 5 positives blog!

The Coyotes do certainly have some nice youth. Eventually they'll get their chance to shine. One positive is that either the team will continue to win a fair bit of their games and we'll see growth from the young players while the older ones up their trade value, or they'll start losing again and not only will the Coyotes have a chance at a really good pick this year, but maybe your coach will get fired! It's win/win!

Stromes speed/skating is not exposed in the OHL, so he can just drift in to the zone and make the right pass and put up 3 puts a night. But in the NHL he never even gets in to the zone and never gets a chance to even try to make a play because he is one of the WORST skaters to ever be drafted top 10. He was legitimately always the worst player on the ice this year, even while Ryan White was on his wing. While I think he'll eventually be able to crack an NHL lineup, he will never be a top line center on a contending team...and that should be a major cause for concern for all coyotes fans.

My prediction is the coyotes will end up looking a lot like the blues of the last decade, which to be fair will be nice to have a playoff team. But, like the blues, we will have tons of scoring depth all over our lineup, but no true top centerman or got to top line. Dvorak and Strome will be our backes, berglund, statsny, and because of that we will drift in and out of the playoffs year after year, while Toronto and Edmonton ride their generational players to Stanley cup finals over and over.

You think William Nylander is a generational player?

Also, by definition, shouldn't there only be one "generational" player per ever 20-25 years?

I'm sure the win against the flames was a miracle. Toss in a shot on Tippett and a video of a crappy song nobody gives a poop about and we've already written most of it
