For those who care, Panaccio says Weal is going to wear 40, which is his AHL number |

RIP Mike Ilitch, he built quite a franchise there in Hockeytown.

Glad Weal is getting a shot. This team has nothing to lose. I wouldn't mind seeing players get dealt now..( whoever Hextall can trade) to give younger players a look.
Don't see Flyers making playoffs, Isles will probably pass them by this time next week. Just seems like there is too many teams fighting for a spot. |

Glad to see Hak shaking things up at least. Not sure that I like Weise being scratched, others have played worse, but at least it's a change. Still not thrilled with the D though. If MDZ is cleared to play, he should be in for Streit. Streit has clearly lost a step from just a year ago and just looks awful out there. |

Well, they're due, right?
These all-time records and streaks are fun to note but meaningless once the game actually starts. Example: The Flyers went into Monday's game against the Blues with a ridiculously gaudy 50-13-0 (17 ties) all-time home record. The Flyers did hold the Blues to one shot in the first period but ultimately got shut out, 2-0.

Streit played quite well this season until the separated shoulder. He has definitely struggled since his return.

He just seems to often be a step behind. I know they like the leadership he brings, but when you are losing and barely scoring any goals, leadership becomes a lot less important than on ice results, IMO. |

I thought Weise was one of the better Flyers forwards on Thursday. Still couldn't buy a goal but he was winning battles and at least trying to get to the net. |

Agreed, it's why I find it puzzling that he's the guy that is going to sit, especially against a big team like San Jose. If Hak is determined to keep the 4th line together, I'd rather Read be the guy to sit against San Jose |

Haha.. when he found out they wouldn't replace the name plate with Mason sux, he traded it straight up for a San Jose Pavelski Jersey.. |

I actually hope they give Weal a couple of games on the top couple lines.....let's see what he can do. Interesting to see where this organization goes in the next year. Hopefully the kids , like Leier and Laughton are brought in. Hopefully some of the D are ready.....if Morin is not ready by the start of next year, that has nothing to do with patience....same for Laughton . Please let guys like VDV and Bellemare go along with Streit, MDZ and Schultz . Stop blocking the kids. This league game s changing, it's a young league. |

Agree. Why not see what we can get and move on with some younger guys. It's not like it could get much worse. |

With any luck one of Read, Weise or our "top 3" d Macdonald are grabbed up by Vegas and not a young guy like Laughton or Stolarz. |

Teams like TO who are playing with 7 or so rookies a night are both entertaining and good. Great coaching helps at this level and the leafs have that. |

I wasn't at practice yesterday. But Joe Siville (Flyers website director) has him as number 19: https://www.nhl.com/flyer...elphia-flyers/c-286626600 - bmeltzer
Bill, do you ever see Couturier as anything more than a defensive 3rd or 4th line center? I'm okay with him in a 3rd line role but I don't see why they seem to keep wanting to push him up as a 2nd line center. I MO that's a playmaker/scorers role in the top 6 and I don't see him ever being that. |
