Could call the Flyers. Two UFA goalies and probably not going cost as much as Fleury or Bishop.

Just not sure what would be a reasonable deal. Maybe 3rd round pick and maybe a prospect that might not have developed like the Jets have wanted(Lodge, Lemiux)?

I think there's deal to be made and I honestly prefer the Halak idea of having NYI retianing salary and using him as a 1-1 with Hellebuyck next year.

Yeah.

He'll be cheap. They just want to move him.

What player at any level of organized (using that adjective loosely for the Jets) hockey, does not know that there are consequences to "pushing a stray stick towards an opposing player who has the puck" ?

I think I'd take either flyers goalie over halak, but I'd only give a fourth rounder as they are pending UFA's. I have no interest in Halak. I like the idea of reaching out to Detroit about Howard. Detroit needs to shed salary and he only has two years left.

I love seeing all these goalie comments when Hellebuyck was perfect last night, is 3 games about .500, and has better numbers than Pav and Hutch while being younger.

Well . The Jets lost to the Wild as expected. No surprise really. As big and hopeful a fan as I am , IMHO they will now not make the playoffs. St. Louis and Calgary both won and LAK is right there as well. I just don't see the path anymore considering the other teams games in hand.

That then begs the question whether we can just make some trades to some playoff bound teams. Maybe use some of those draft picks to trade with Vegas so we can protect Copp or Dano, or whomever. Pick up a UFA Goalie (there are lots) OR arrange a trade with Las Vegas for one of the 6-7 goalies they may pick up. I see no need to solve the goalie problem immediately as we will finish short of the playoffs anyways.

As you know , I am no fan of Mr .500 - Paul Maurice. Time to move on. I would be happy with Julien but there are other choices out there as well.

Finally , its time for this team to spend some money. Sitting at a $6-8 MM under the cap year after year is not going to get you where you need to be. Lets spend some more money and get the key pieces we need. A good goalie and a couple of decent third pairing defencemen.

I'm actually surprised you don't want them to give postma, copp or Dano a shot in net

Helly is the future and needs to play around 55ish games a year. The Jets need to find a vet that will play the other 30 or so games and be above .500 while playing them. They need a vet that will play well enough that he will challenge and push Helly for ice time. A vet that we can rely on for two years would be ideal. Howard and Fleury would foot the bill just fine. Fleury might be a little to costly. Fleury probably will have better options. Reimer or a healthy Howard would be my choices to add in the summer.

Agree with Howard. Raanta and Darling would also fit the bill.

That one big fat contract at $8.5 MM per season for Lundqvist till 2021. Good luck to the Rangers in trying to dump that one off. Your right that Arizona won't bite on that.

I could be wrong, but from my vantage point, the 2nd goal by Pominville, may have gone wide if Pav was not there. It seemed to hit Pav's arm and go in on a bit of an angle.

Pavelec needs to be escorted back to the manitoba moose dressing room to back Comrie up. What a disaster of an experiment and whats even worse is hearing all of these so called fans blame everyone except for pavelec (coaches, players in front of him etc). He's a terrible goalie, always has been and always will be.

I listened to the Maurice interview after the practice yesterday . It was really the first time the reporters really drilled him on the questions that needed to be asked. Maurice did a good and honest job of responding. I for one am willing to accept those answers as viable explanations.

Bottom line is that they are at the tail end of the draft and develop mode and in the very near future they will be moving into a mode where they would expect to get results. There are probably some players like Wheeler and Little who want results now but I think they must also realize that they are veterans on a draft and develop team that is close to ready to take the next step. Maurice will be the coach next year. If he fails next year then he will be gone.

The only question that I think his answer was more of a dodge was regarding the goalies. He was trying to tell us that Pavelic has played very well. I call BS. Pavelic while making some excellent saves has also let in way too many very costly soft goals. Helly should have had more starts over the last five or six games. I don't think anyone will disagree with that.

What are you talking about? What team in the league would not want to have a goalie with .888 save percentage and a 3.55 GAA? I can't believe Wheeler actually went to the media and said they trust this guy. It seems like the Atlanta guys just love giving themselves all the credit!
