Teams that tied before the annoying changes to the point schemer always got a point for the tie and often that was a hard won, and well-deserved point.

The extra point is being given to the winner, and should be referred to as something like a"gimmick" point, or more correctly a "keep-the-standings-bunched-up" point.

loved the win last night... not so much for the 2 points but it showed the leafs playing more to their system again and not running around

sure they gave up a lot of shots but even mcelhinney they were mostly from the outside and that the skaters did a good job allowing him to see the puck.

hopefully they keep trending that way

Seguin could have scored 3 more, to be honest, Leafs were quite lucky with that.
Plus McElhinney played really well.
Leafs could have easily lost 4-2 - I wasn't too impressed by yesterday's game BUT considering it was a game 2nd half of B2B, was a great win.

Anyone know what the injury status of Leipsic and Kapanen are? Their availability will be a big factor in how busy the Leafs will be at the deadline.....either as trade chips, or the the players used to fill the hole(s) when/if other vets get traded.

that's exactly the only thing the loser point does....well that and it makes people think their team are doing better than they actually are. The Canadiens are really only 5 games above .500
But that's the NHL...then they wonder why there arent many trades during the reg season....well....having 28 of 30 think they can still make the playoffs will do that.
