Carol Schram: Make or break time for Vancouver Canucks as 6-game trip begins in Nashville The Vancouver Canucks know their season is on the line as they kick off a tough six-game road trip on Tuesday against the Nashville Predators.

Thank you Carol!

Of course Bergevin Loves Burrows lol. I think we all could have predicted that. The only problem I have with that is Bergevin has been known to buy low and sell high.
EX (BUY = Petry/Byron(free)/Nesterov/etc/Flynn/Mitchell) and SELL (Weise/Fleishmann for Danault (former 1st rnd pick) and a 2nd round pick). I would assume that he would be able to get Burrows pretty cheap out of VAN with his trading record.

And thx Carol...would just love to see Burrows get one more run in MTL...to me he has earned it. Sucks to have to cheer for the Habs but I would do it if Burrows was there.

More than likely we trade him for a third and he resigns in Van in the off season.

Great blog Carol!

Nice to hear someone wants Burrows, I'd take a shoehorn at this point. I think a 2nd may be a little too steep unless we take back some bad contract(which I'm all for, actually) in order to sweeten the deal

are our expectations on performance/pts changed with a new coach?

or is it part of development to lose with a better structure/systems?

I was a bit pissed with the 65 point prediction at the start of the season, I wanted us to be more competitive. but a top 5 pick would be good.

I'm all over the map.

I really don't think there's much to worry about. To have a sniff at playoffs at this point we need to win more than we lose over a stretch of games against high quality competition. If we do then great, maybe it's worth sneaking in. But the expected result will land us in a high draft position. So it's kind of a win/win.

I'll cheer for goals and player development, but won't be disappointed if we tail off towards the end of the year.

I know he loves the Nucks, but you would have to think that MB might be able to re-sign him to a cap friendly deal to sign with his childhood team. I would be happy with a 2nd round pick for Burrows. He is showing his age, but is still one of the few guys to give it his all every single shift.

Thanks Carol. I think you nailed as far as what this road trip means. Looks like Nucks are getting ready to sell if the expected happens.

If we get a 4th for Burrows I'd be ecstatic. He has a bad contract and is a 4th liner at this point.

They should have sold 4 and a half years ago.

If they need a losing streak on a road trip to finally understand and commit to that, then how sad...

he is playing well with Horvat and Sven. I would assume we would have an expiring contract coming back in order to make this work. Habs need bottom 6 help.

He has been ok but he doesn't deserve to play with Bo. It's a product of Lindens blinding loyalty to his old friends

They only have six players left from that time. It's not been a tear down. Selling has been more off season. But that's how they wanted to do it to develop and remain competitive. It's a hard road with mixed results. Either way last 4 years they have drafted high enough with lowest picks being BB and Mcann who turned into Guddy. So it didn't effect their drafting. Just the luck of the lotto.

could be. I think what he does without the puck is why he is still playing on that line. He does create a bit more space for Bo and Sven to work with. I would really hope for a 2nd, be happy with a 3rd, expect a 4th. I would want something higher than a 4th if it includes a salary dump coming back.

If only they had settled on a full rebuild when they should have, instead of this hybrid bullstool, we would be in a much better position by now.... If only...

I get Linden not wanting to run Burr, Edler and the Sedins out of town. But you are saying TL is making WD play who he wants on a line?

You mean with more draft picks and prospects?
Realistically what would that look like?
Do any of the young guys on the team not count?

I guess I jumped on Dragon there, he didn't mention the change this season.

I caught part of the Kuzma interview, LV was suggested for Julien, but Kuz said Julien would likely want to win now. Looking at our roster, winning is a few years away.

I try not to take anything away from what has been acquired/drafted under the Benning Regime. But just imagine the Canucks acquired a billion 2nd round picks like the Leafs did. Admitted to themselves early that they were a inferior team with who they had. Recognized their core early (like Leafs did with JVR/Kadri/Bozak/Reilly) and started shipping out the rest for picks. Benning's craft is his drafting, so give the man more assets to draft with. More picks the better IMO. Look at Gaudette, 5th round pick and is 4th or 5th in scoring in NCAA. Look at Forsling, another 5th round pick who has a good chance at being an NHL regular one day. Look at Brett Mckenzie, albeit his D+1 year, but is the leading scorer on his team and putting up respectable numbers. I just think, Benning's best work has been through drafting, so why has he not done everything he can to get as many picks as possible. Just my 2 cents.
