Duchene is WAY more valuable than Andrew Ladd was.

He's younger, more skilled, and is locked up for a longer term.

That longer term and age is important, as it means teams that aren't in a playoff position right now would likely be willing to make a play for him as well. Even THAT factor raises his price.

Danault + Juulsen or Beaulieu + McCarron or Scherbak + Desharnais + 1st

That's what it would likely cost to acquire Matt Duchene for the Habs

Desharnais is obviously for cap reasons, with only a million or so left owed to him for the final 2 months, Colorado would have no issue eating that up... The real problem would be in the summer and giving Galchenyuk his piece of the pie and potentially Beaulieu if he doesn't go in the trade. Would most likely have to move Emelin

I don't think Montreal should do this, considering how thin their prospect pool is as it is.

I don't think that package as big as it is comes even close to being anything the Avs would want.

Hard to say, especially with the way Danault has been playing between Radulov and Pacioretty, kinda hard to mess with that right now... Also, I'm sure Colorado would chose Scherbak over McCarron, he just doesn't have the speed to keep up at this level and unfortunately I don't see him ever cracking an NHL roster, Scherbak being the only prospect they have with true offensive upside would be a bitter pill to swallow and adding Juulsen and a 1st! Might be better off going the rental route...

What they want and what's being offered are 2 different things, which is why I'm pretty sure a Duchene trade isn't happening this season... Their asking price probably looks more like Sergachev, Gallagher and a 1st

NSH certainly seems like the best trading partner. I would imagine that COL would want Ekholm in return, which would be a reasonable ask.

I still think the Isles could put together a perfectly competitive offer, if they're willing to part with some talent.

If the Islanders are willing to let Barzal go, yes, there is a good fit there indeed.

It would Elllis or Ekholm for sure. No chance Nash parts with Josi or Subban.

Ekholm and 2nd. Slight overpay but do it to keep out of others hands

With NSH D prospect Depth and Saros showing he belongs, they are scary for years to come.

Allows NSH to go 7+3+1 in the Expansion Draft

I mean obviously Barzal is highly coveted, but I'm pretty sure that COL is looking for mainly defense here. Trading Barzal for Duchene really doesn't help the Avalanche at all.

I'd be more inclined to think that they would have to give up Hamonic & Pulock and another asset.

Agreed, i think Ellis is the preferred guy to go.....
But it doesnt help COL bc Ellis isnt really a defensive dman, which COL needs....

Not saying it's likely, but if they were able to swing a deal in which they only gave up one or the other, I'd be pretty damn happy.

It doesn't get talked about much but, in terms of AHL/Jr's, the Isles have a lot of talented defenseman. I think they would be OK in the long run if they lost Hamonic or Pulock. Both might be hard.

I can understand Nashville, but I can't see Montreal

I've said it before but the three teams that have always stuck out for a possible trade location for Duchene are Ottawa, Philly, or Boston and I think the first two would be more likely.
