No need to trade for Duchene to save his job, but agewise he fits the roster. If present forwards maintain their play, may be no place in near future for younger forward prospects but I am inclined to think Vancouver may make a play for Barzal since he plays in Seattle.

I watched a bit of the AHL all star skills competition and Devon Toews looks great. He had the second fastest time ever in the speed competition and every other event I watched him in He was great. A few guys on here have been singing his praises.. and I had seen him play a bit in College. He is really turning out to be a great pick.

If you package Hamonic and Pulock(who btw are not top pair dmen hence why you package them both), and throw a pick(doesn't have to be a first), that can get Sakic thinking about this deal. Nashville will probably make a counterattack.
Reason why I do this is for 2 reasons: 1 the emergence of Adam Pelech(who needs to be protected because he compliments Leddy so well) and 2 going by the 7 forwards and 3 dman protection scenario for vegas. Otherwise, Pulock or Hamonic will be lost for nothing.

If He isn't I will be furious.. I hope you are right.

Any shot that Somerby doesn't go the UFA route this summer?

Ladd too

I agree with Noel landeskog is a better for he's a wing and good 2 way Ayer will put up points whereas duchene is a center and wants to an there and we have barzal coming up.

You can ask them to waive them...it is a bit of a touchy subject though. They have almost no leverage in enforcing him to waive it

What I mean is that some guys have contracts that could potentially be bought out if they choose not to waive the NMC. I don't think Ladd or Boychuk would be taking that risk, hence the leverage

Yeah they aren't gonna do that also the isles can trade a prospect or pick to Vegas on order to not take an exposed played.
For instance, the Golden Knights may acquire a draft pick, prospect or future considerations from another NHL team in exchange for their agreement to not select a particular exposed player in June’s expansion draft.
Many teams will be interested in negotiating with Vegas to ensure a certain vulnerable player will remain with their club. There were three such trades made ahead of the 2000 expansion draft, with San Jose trading with both Columbus and Minnesota for their agreement to not select goaltender Evgeni Nabokov

I am certain there will be trades like that, but it wont come without a price. There are going to be better players available at this draft than ones before it. A trade for a favor to pick someone else would probably be more costly.

FYI, in terms of buyout candidate I mean someone like Girardi or Filppula, just brought up buyout because of the leverage aspect

As long as Pelech and deHaan are not taken, I'm ok with this.

You trade Hamonic because you have Pulock. They're both top 4 d-men. Top pairing? No. Leddy & JB aren't true top pairing guys either. How many true top pair D-men are there in the league? Weber, Subban, Hedman, Doughty, Letang, Chara(?). Not every team has 1 of them. There are a lot of top 4 that are playing top pair minutes though. And you want to get rid of 2 of them. Hamonic, MDC & a 1st. There's your package. If the Avs don't like it, oh well. You definitely want to keep Pulock though. He's the young talent with a Howitzer of a shot.
With your scenario, who are the 7 forwards you protect?

DeHaan and Hickey are going to be exposed, imo. Have to protect Leddy, JB, Pulock & Pelech.
