Do we all agree that with next years FA class, it should be Shattenkirk or bust?

If so, is there any sort of reasonable trade the Avs can make with the Blues?

Shatty if they dont have to do some mega 6-7 year deal for him. hes turning 28 next week and to lock up a dman till hes 34-35 seems a bit crazy even though Avs could really use him.

If he was willing to do a 4 year deal I would be all over that. I dont think you trade for him, take your chances at UFA. Avs dont have the luxery of burning assets in a high price trade at the deadline.

yeah but where? who's gonna want that hefty contract and wonky groin? I think the Av's are screwed....the only 2 things they can hope for is that being exposed in the expansion draft and Vegas snags him or he retires early and bolts to Russia like he was going to do to Washington. but man, wouldnt it be nice if that was the Avalanches problem of having 3 good goalies so they can go back to focusing on shoring up that defense

Agreed, Varly will be an immovable object the next couple years unless Vegas takes him. Haven't watched too many Av's games this year, how is Zadorov looking this year? I see he just put in his first of the season so that's a good sign.

Zads took a while to get going. but I think if the Erik Johnson injury has been positive, its been positive in his maturation. he's getting better about playing better in his zone, pitching in in the offensive zone and just turning into a wrecking ball the past few games. he's just destroying people. I say when EJ comes back, stick them back together and keep that a lock as your first D pair. oh, and he's also scored his first goal tonite!

And to think we could have picked Filip Forsberg if we didn't trade our no 1 that year...

meh. It was needed at the time, washington didnt do any better with their trades later on.

Avs still have their assets from Varly and EJ trade.

What Zads has been doing over the past 15 games or so is very very encouraging, its the start of seeing a multi-tool beast of an NHL dman. Hes 21 with his up and downs but I am super encouraged that he is going to be a nasty guy to play against in a season or 2, once his game matures some more and he is surrounded with an actual D Core.

The problem is that when he makes a mistake is amplified by 10 from the peanut gallery since he has been playing so well for 90% of the time. When one of the Junk Dmen make the same bad play no one bats an eye at it. Hes not immortal but he defiantly is Zads the destroyer out there now

*gets all fanboy'd out that Coga replied to one of my comments*

I absolutely agree w the last half of this assessment. his mistakes are magnified by a thousand when he makes them because theres not that experience shown from Zaddy where people will give him the benefit of doubt or shrug it off knowing he'll make up for his mistake later in the game. but the progress is tremendous and I really see him forming into a nice reliable Chara type.

I freakin love his cocky attitude when he does something really well too, that smirk he makes has to get under opposing players skin just watch in Feb when he obliterates O'Reilly in a buffalo game on the 25th, my bday
