Credit the team for not folding tonight. At least for one night

January 1st Ducks, 55 shots to 25

Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Konecny-Schenn-Simmonds
Read-Couturier-Weise

January 22nd Islanders, 47 shots to 38

Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Konecny-Schenn-Simmonds
Read-Couturier-Cousins

These lines lasted two games earlier this month and they clearly have had the most impact with shots on goal, as well as provide the balance throughout the line up. Why hasn't this happened sooner?

Thanks for sharing the story about Lorren!

Hopefully the team is able to build off the win.

That was a good and much needed win. We'll find out soon enough if it can be built on at MSG, where they have struggled mightily in recent years. I hope it can.

Thanks for sharing Lorren's touching story and Marshy's kind gesture. It is a despicable illness for which we can only hope a cure can one day be found.

Unfortunately the last time we saw these lines and peppered a goalie like we did tonight on a Sunday, we faced the Rangers three days later on a Sunday. The lines were broken up for the crap we've seen lately.

I thought G looked solid all night.

I saw the 2nd half of the game and thought the lines looked good.

Best I've seen the Flyers play in the last few weeks by far.

Also liked how Hak used players in the OT.

The forwards are pretty much optimized with the line up they used tonight.

Glad this team finally showed some spine last night, and, as usual, I was very impressed with the overall play of Provorov. The trick now will be to carry this effort into Wednesday's game against the Rags.

Still pretty boring to watch. The perimeter play and trying to pass the puck into the net is painful to watch.

Too much Nick Cousins. I thought he tried to make smart plays in OT but managed to goof up everything he tried. When Nick Cousins is getting offensive opportunities ahead of Raffl and Read, whether it be the Power Play or 3 on 3 OT, this is an issue.

Agree BiggE

Love the result and effort but if they come out Wednesday and Thursday and look like horsepoop again it was for nothing.

Again provorov was probably the best player.

Glad to see Giroux score. Hope it maybe gets him going but still need to see more at 5 on 5 from him.

Between the Isles' two unfortunate bounce goals and our goal getting disallowed, I fully expected our team to cave and let the game get out of reach quickly. But instead of getting kicked when already down, we stuck to the gameplan and clawed back to earn two points. Hopefully we can carry this confidence and momentum into the Rags game.

Same. The problem is, Max Talbot was at least a penalty killer, he wasn't forced all over the line up and didn't receive undeserved Power Play over proven point producers such as Matt Read and Michael Raffl.

What channel was the game on that you watched because the Flyers game I warched last night was neither boring or filled with perimeter play by them.

2 of their 3 goals went in from the crease.
The goal they had called off was from the crease with everyone crashing the net.
They had over 40 shots and dominated stretches of the game...

Still it is only one win and they need the same effort in the next two games..

This is not perimeter play.

Good effort last night but they will have to better in the next 2 games. Always have hard time against the Rags and the Leafs are quick and can put the puck in the net .
The Flyers have beat the 2 last place teams in the East and one of the worst teams in the West so far in 2017.
If Hextall is seriously looking to be a playoff team IMO they still have to make some kind of move. Congrats to G for getting the winner, but let's face it this core group has to be much better especially 5-5

Last night aside, this season has just been so damn frustrating. At this point, only one player on the entire roster has exceeded my expectations going into the season and that would be Provorov. While Konecny has overall played pretty well, it's basically what I expected to get out of him. The only other players who have even met my expectations consistently are: Simmonds, Voracek, Schenn, PEB, VdV and Lyubimov up front and Gudas and AMac on D. However, when it comes to PEB, VdV, and AMac my expectations weren't all that much to begin with.

The rest of the roster have all underachieved IMO. At the start of the season I, like most of us, thought they were a bubble team. However, this assessment was based on: getting consistently good goaltending, Ghost likely seeing a drop off in numbers, but still providing good overall play and good numbers on the pp, MDZ continuing to play like a legit #2/3 Dman, Claude Giroux being much more effective at ES, Matt Read having at least a somewhat better season than last year and Sean Couturier settling in as a solid 2C.

At this point, the only way I see them making the playoffs will be with a lot of luck and if one of the goalies gets red hot.

All in all, it's been a very disappointing season so far.

Can't say it any better than that, because you know Hextall won't make any trades during the season. If they continue to be " mediocre " at best than something must be done to change up the culture
