Thanks for the write up Jan, missed the 3rd and OT.
Watched the Falcons destroy GB. 3 of us split a bunch of beers, so I only had about 4 total. Fun afternoon. Had 2 beers from my cellar that were 16 and 18 years old. Try that with a Bud.
OT shutout eh? Even against Detroit that should help Hank's confidence, hell, he won 2 in a row!
Hope Hayes comes back after the ASB healthy. |

I think getting Shattenkirk is a very outside possibility because of the cost associated with it. Since he seems willing to play anywhere the remainder of the season, the price to acquire will be high, because St. Louis isn't limited in who they can trade. More likely is Stone or Franson, because of the lesser price tag. |

If I had to trade one of the top 9 wingers to help get a top pair D guy,not a rental
It would Be Zucc .....1st no STep or Nash is wanted to make this deal
to get Trouba outta winny ...Zucc + pick =Trouba ?
with all the upside on the rest of the mag 7 i outlined or the 7 untouchables
he's the oldest & most games under his belt ..may have seen his best and will
diminish the rest of the way ...
I love zucc BUt IF i had to sacrifice for the big pair we will need to win cup
I'm using Zucc as bait to get a top D guy to pair up with Mac

Jan I would have mentioned something about the ice, it was absolutely terrible and had a profound impact on the game.
I would move miller to C while Hayes is out and move Vesey back up to hopefully kickstart his game |

I tend to agree that Zucc might be the most likely candidate to leave. That being said I think it would be a huge mistake in the middle of the year. He is a big part of this locker room, you would essentially be ripping out the heart of this team.
Also, you really think it's a given that he will be on the decline? Martin St. Louis started warming up around this age. I don't necessarily think they are of the same ilk, but Zuccarello is durable and tough as hell. I think his decline is far off and we may not have seen the best from him yet. He needs to shoot more. He may be closer to a point a game if he could get that through his head.
Sending away anyone in the current starting forward group for a top pairing D-man is cutting off their nose to spite their face. They definitely need to do something with regards to the D, and a meaningful upgrade is going to be near impossible without sending off one of their current roster players. I am more OK with sending over a first round pick and a prospect + since they have had such luck with stealing other teams college players that choose to go to free agency.
Who knows what will happen. I just hope it is a shrewd move we didn't see coming that leaves the forward group intact. |

I think this would be good for Vesey as well. I know he hit a bit of a wall but he might need to play with different people to get going again. |

True on the ice, adversely impacted both teams, contributing to the slog fest.
I could see Miller getting moved to C with Vesey shifting up to his spot on the wing. It's one of the options I mentioned. Hopefully not a major injury to Hayes and will be interesting to see who gets called up |

Zucc is 29. If look at his career, this is really just his fourth full season, as the others were impacted by his time in the minors and then return overseas. He is the heart and soul leader of this team who took less money to stay in New York then he could have gotten on the open market. It's possible he goes but I put that possibility as remote and believe it would be a huge mistake to move him. Unsure what decline we will see. Yes, he has just eight goals but has notched 29 assists including 17 in his last 14 games.

He's got a one way plane ticket to a team that is not of his choice for a D-man we don't want to see here. |
