The next 5 games are the most important of the season.
None should be lost in regulation and hopefully 3 out of 4 against Metro are a win |

From the last thread:
This team has shown that they aren't going to win a lot of games this year if they don't get superlative goaltending and if the powerplay isn't firing on all cylinders. They are a bad team at ES and their overall defensive play is horrible.
The numbers don't lie; 89 goals for at ES vs 109 goals against. Even the special teams numbers are nothing too special. While they've scored a repectable 36 pp goals, they've given up a ridiculous 8 short handed goals so their differential is 28. Opponents have only scored 27 pp goals, but have only allowed the Flyers 2 shorties for a differential of 25.
Outside of the development of Provorov and to a lesser extent Konecny, this season has been nothing to be proud of. |

Gotta get a win tonight. This team seems so damn fragile these days, that I'm afraid a loss tonight would just kick off a new losing streak.

Anyone else hear the rumor of Konecny possibly being scratched?
I'm not going to lie, I actually didn't miss these guys playing this past week. I definitely needed a break watching them . If they suck again tonight, I might need another one. |

Don't worry. They always play well against the Devils. |

Yeah it's in bills blog. I do not see the point in scratching kony. I guess it's just rotating whipping boys right now.
Yeah. I needed a break too because they were driving me bonkers. Our scores 11 to 3 last weekend. Epic fail guys. |

I give them a 10% chance of not getting shut out. I want to watch the game but if the devils score first I'll turn it off. It'll be severely boring |

Scratch one of the few players that generates offense at ES? Makes perfect sense because Hak says so. |

A Konecny scratch would make no sense. I see no way of justifying that. |

I don't agree with scratching Konecny but if he is it's not the end of the world and the fan outrage will be over blown as it has been in the past. No matter what Hakstol says to explain himself won't be accepted by the fan base.
My take on Konecny this season, he's shown flashes of brilliance but he is still very far from playing a complete NHL game. He struggles with shift to shift consistency and forming routine plays at times. I have lots of faith his game will develop but he certainly hasn't had the impact at even strength or on the power play where there is no question he should be in the line up for all 82 games. If Hakstol truly believes having these young players watch a game every now and then is a good coaching tool then I'll TRUST THE PROCESS. |

He just had 5 days off and is one of the few players who consistently generates some sort of even strength offense. Scratching him makes no sense I don't care that he's a rookie. He's one of our best players and barring some sort of crazy slump, he needs to play. Period. |

Hope that this doesn't really happen. Makes zero sense as you mention. I'm not an NHL coach but I'll tell you what I'd do. If the team gave a solid effort even in a loss, I wouldn't touch the lineup for at least 5 games. Let the lines gel and let the guys play without the fear of the coach randomly scratching guys or putting the line combos in a blender. Nothing against Hak but constant juggling hasn't worked of late. |

It's a coaching decision to scratch any one and play anyone he likes....if they continue to lose and show no pushback when things go south then that's on the coach....it makes no sense to sit talent over pluggers....it's up to the coach to put Konecny in positions where he can be successful. |

If HAk feels that TK needs to see more of the game from up high to learn, why not just give him film to watch taken from the rafters and strap him in a chair like A Clockwork Orange, so the message sinks in and he can stay in the lineup. |

And he's scratching TK again... Jesus Christ this guy is making it harder and harder to believe in him.
How come VDV doesn't get a seat? Or Read? Oh nvm they're "defensively" responsible. |

I read yesterday that the WOS was skating with the extras. Not sure why the blog says Konecny would be a healthy scratch.
This team is averaging less than 2 goals a game over the last 15. Would make zero sense to sit a skill player.
