Can't believe what a Jekyll and Hyde team these Devils are. One week they look like an absolute dumpster fire and next week they look too legit to quit. Unfortunately this seems headed to no playoffs and a crappy draft selection.

Over the course of the first 15 games they played decent hockey they really didn't get dominated in any of those games believe we were averaging around 30 shots on goal a game and then the California road trip came and since then this team has gotten dominated almost every game they've played against quality opponents

But there have been times this year when they look like a competitive team and nights they look completely lost. They were the last team to lose at home and played some good games at the Rock to start the seasons. They then somehow beat Washington in Washington, spanked the Flyers 4-0, and beat the Bruins 3-0. The rest of the time they pretty much looked remarkably poopty.

So most games I wonder which team is going to show up. The one that can't complete a crisp pass or the one that can plays some competitive hockey.

I actually circle the loss in Pittsburgh in November as where it really began to hit the fan. Give up the tying goal by inexplicably leaving the best player in the world wide open with under 20 seconds to go. From there...it crumbled

So. Frustrating.

The offense is capable. Nice mix of youth, speed, veterans, finishers, and backcheckers. Just needs consistency and Hall can be a star player.

The defense is crap. Like, really bad. Lovejoy is TOI leader on a nightly basis and there's someone named Stollery there too.

The goaltending has been ordinary, though getting back to elite level.

However, the game-plan is non-existent. No team identity. I have no idea what this team is supposed to be doing, what they even think their strengths are or what roles each player is supposed to be taking on.

He's the worst every day defenseman I've seen play for the Devils since Mottau. Good thing we have him signed for another 2 years.
