A. Provorov is 19

B. There is no urgency for the flyers to do anything with their D prospects this year...given that the logjam will be alleviated with Streit, Schultz, and MDZ all off the books.

C. Morin and Sanheim are paired in the AHL and are seeing heavy PK and D zone minutes. They are likely to come up next year as the 3rd pairing.

Flyers are a bubble team. These are not the Flyers of the past. It is a patient approach and the D situation will work itself out over a longer period of time. Not this year...the prospects haven't proven squat.

I don't think GMTM wants AHL defensemen for E. Kane. He wants a plug and play top 4 defender. Philly has been very patient the last few years under Hexy. I would be suprised if they changed course now. Ghost is a great PP player, But his lack of size makes him a liability in his own zone Defensively. I do not consider him a top 4 defenceman in the NHL, at this time. There is no way Hexy is trading Provorov. So, no on Ghost for Kane Garth, and no Kane for Manning, Myers, or Morin. Kane will probably end up in Anaheim for one of their NHL ready D-men.

Ghost will hit the market come next year or the year after. Once we get the young d up and playing ghost just might be the odd man out due to size and ability. Sanheim dwafts ghost in those aspects. Morin will be that 5/6 dman that crushes people and clears the crease. Myers will be that all around talent along with provy. Gudas, well, he has turned into a solid 3/4 man. Doesn't leave a lot of space considering we still have hag down there. I truly believe ghost will be out within two years. However, right now asking for ghost for kane is a no no and you aren't getting a top four dman for kane anyways. be happy with b prospect and 2nd rounder.

Pretty sure the Flyers are not trading Ghost for a guy like Kane....plain and simple you don't add a character issue guy to a young impressionable team. Ghost is still just over a year in the NHL, he is having some growing pains this year, but will be all right.
Kane is a play when I want to guy....a lot of talent and potential...but as a person the guy is a Richard...Hopefully Hexy is looking at someone else.

kane is not the player they want in that lockeroom. Doesn't fit the culture hextall is /has created.

if ghost is traded look to Colorado for one of the guys they have on the block. Not kane.

Do not want Gostisbehere, at least not for what you'd have to give up to get him. You can find a puck-moving d man in FA. I didn't notice ghost at all when we played Philly tuesday

"Why not ask for Gostisbehere right off the bat? Hextall may be willing to entertain the idea."

Cause no Gm is absolutely nuts like you Garth to even ask....

Kane is not what the Flyers would be looking for anyway. The player would have to be younger, and/or, better for them to part with one of their prospects. Hextall is happy to wait and have a blue line of:

Provorov - Gudas
Morin - Gostisbehere
Sanheim - Myers

or some other format of this that includes Hagg, Mark Alt, or Del Zotto (if they keep him) in a couple years. Yes, they need help up front, but they need young, controllable help. Evander Kane will not be the person they are looking for, if they trade a prospect, but he could be what they are looking for if they decide to part ways with Del Zotto and/or Mark Streit before the end of this season. Kane is good, but he's not good enough to give up having such a strong blue line in the near future. In other words, he doesn't put them over the top this year.

Future D Parings:

Provorov-Myers

Morin-Sanheim

Ghost-Gudas

Streit and MDZ should be gone at the deadline. I'd include Schultz and Manning if anyone would take them. Macdonald leaving is a pipe dream but he'll eventually get bought out. Ghost with sheltered offensive minutes and second line PP time is fine, but if someone offered something huge for him I think they would/should do it. He's having a sophomore slump, no doubt, but he isn't a top D man, just an offensive specialist. Bernhardt is also playing very well. A draft with some pretty good right handed D men is on its way in 2017. Grabbing one in the second round would be a good idea.

Wow where do I even start...

What makes you think that Ron Hextall is interested in acquiring a "veteran" winger on this non-playoff team that is in rebuild mode by trading away one of their pieces acquired during their rebuild... How does that make any sense? Why is it a must that Hextall trades away a piece of the most valuable part of this farm system (one of their recent first round draft picks, Myers included) for f***ing EVANDER KANE. A trade consisting of a player like Sanheim (which you spelled wrong at one point) AND a forward for Evander Kane. Evander Kane. And then you say he has been one of the hottest scorers in the NHL to date just because he's streaking right now? Are you kidding me?
Have you paid any attention to the Flyers and Ron Hextall's mission as GM? This team is not in win now mode by any means. If Hextall were to trade a piece of their future blue line which will be the best in the NHL in a few years for a "veteran" power forward so that we can either just miss the playoffs or get swept in the first round I would stop watching this team. That would be dumbest move Hextall could make.
This is possibly the most far off article I've read "to date" about the Flyers.
