Peter Tessier: Jets Fans' Guide to 2017 What does the new year have in store for the Jets? It's anyone's guess but conditions are there for change.

Happy New Year to all Jets fans.

My two cents. Chevy has done a great job with drafting and trading, moving the farm team to Wpg, etc. He is fine to say.

Maurice however is another story. A perennial .500 coach after something like 1200+ games is not going to cut it anymore for the Jets. Guess what , the 2016-17 Jets are a .500 team. As mentioned here, his systems do not work and teams are coached to see right through them.

That all being said I think the Jets missed their chance to replace him when they had two quality coaches ( Torts and Boudreau ) looking to get placed. Look at the new teams they are coaching, they are the best two teams in the league.

Nuff said. Get rid of Maurice as soon as a quality replacement is available !

Im going to hate Burmi with the Avs aren't I? I have a feeling they are going to pick him up. Apparently they were scouting him early in the year

Yes, anyone getting him will hate him in short order. His stick handling and ability to hold the puck will entertain you a game or two but once you realize he has zero scoring ability and makes bone head decisions you will quickly want him gone.

I hope he gets picked up by a team that will use him properly. He's either a perfect reclamation project or that guy who spends his career teasing the fans with almost scoring and crazy stickhandling that ends with a giveaway.

Burmistov has similar intrigue that Yak had as an Oiler. Could be a guy who needs a change of scenery.

Don't think he's a fit in Toronto, plenty of young guys and projects already. Carolina might be a fit.

Interesting to see that ex-Jet Adam Pardy who was released last year waivers despite showing promise has been sent to the minors by Nashville and doesn't seem to have much demand. I think Burmistrov could show a similar path. Uncoachable .

It was time to see Burmi go. It just never was going to work.

Clearly no playoffs again for the Jets. Just not an intelligent team for whatever reason.

Maurice is likely gone. It is apparent he can't solve any of the team's problems of lethargic play, poor defensive play, lack of discipline, inability to kill penalties, lack of PP success. I'm still unclear what the Jets style is. The players share this blame.

Huddy should have been gone three years ago, but this must be his last season.

Chevy stays because of his draft and adequate trade record. It takes two sides to trade and league wide any trades of significance are few.

I hope the new coach has NHL playoff experience, a winning record and is recognized for a sound defensive style of play.

When the franchise acquires a better than average NHL goalie it will be a first for Jets 2.0.

Its not hard to envision how the goalie situation is going to pan out as we get closer to the trade deadline. There are enough teams in the league with two very good goalies that are going to surely risk losing one of them to Las Vegas if they don't make a trade. Fleury and Bishop for starters.

I don't see Hellybucyk as quite ready to be number one and Hutch does not make a very good backup. I therefore foresee Chevy trying to grab a starter from the pool available and solving this situation until Hellybucyk is finally ready. Fleury would be perfect for the role.

A second round pick and Marko Dano and/or Brendan Lemieux might work. Might take a bit more.

Best of luck to Burmi in Arizona. The perfect destination for him as a center.

Dano should be a no trade player. Lemieux, however, would be a good idea IF you were to get a 1B to play with Hellebuyck.

I'll take a goalie who could shave a goal or two per game off the scoreboard over Dano any day of the week. Top notch goalies are hard to come by. Guys like Dano are a dime a dozen.

It was a huge fall from grace for him. He showed so much promise in junior, had a work ethic and motor that just kept running as I saw him numerous times with Barrie. Not sure where it all went wrong, but he looked to be a real solid prospect. Question is, did the Jets ruin him?

Hellebuyck is in the top half of the league at 5 on 5. Out defence is 4th in overall impact. The system and the horrendous PK is sinking both ships.

Jets 1.0 never had the goaltending either.....some flashes of brilliance here and there, but could never compete with Fuhr, Vernon, Moog, etc...

I'd trade Dano before Lemieux, we have players like Dano we don't have guys like Lemieux. They jets are lacking guys who gets under people's skin and finishes every hit

Don't trade Lemieux!

We have the forwards, prospects and picks to get a goalie. This is too much too soon for Hellybuck.....you can hide as a young player in any position except goalie.

NJ will be sellers big time and Schneider is worth takin a run at. So is MAF in Pittsburgh in the right deal?

Put Ben Bishop in our net I think we are a playoff team, we are not as far away as some think.
