Go to go backwards before forwards?

1 step back to go 2 forward?

Good things take time?

Good things come to those that wait?

Patience is a virtue?

We're in for the long haul not the short one?

The NHL is a marathon not a sprint?

Thank (frank) for the loser point in OT?

Have I forgotten anything?

Does seem strange that a hot team last season can go backwards (so far), this season having made changes to improve the team??

The question I ask is why make changes (& relying on analytics all of a sudden seems very strange), when you are winning. Sometimes players get overpaid - it's a business, & just because his 'numbers' aren't acceptable seems very naive!!

I stopped the video 47 seconds in. This guy from day one becoming the Panthers blogger hasn't gotten a clue on what's going on with this team. The ownership is to blame 100%. You do not make that many changes to a 103 point team. The best team (points wise) in franchise history. They throw money at Ekbald, Smith, Trocheck, Riemer, Demers, Yandle and they are closer to last place in the East than a WC spot. The team is a joke, they are boring to watch and the depth from the AHL is so much worse than last season. In EVERY way this franchise has taken a step back.

They continue to draft poorly.
They continue to spend poorly.
They make horrible trades, I wonder where McCann is???
They continue to change coaches and form zero consistency within the system.
They are relying on numbers, not grit and determination.
They are one of the softest teams in the NHL
They are one of the worst Power Play teams in the league. The whole point in overhauling the D this offseason was to improve the PP. It hasn't improved.
They are dead last in the NHL in offensive zone possession.

Dan, you still think the fans are overreacting???? This entire organization is one pathetic joke.

Ownership thought these moves would help the team. They deeply care. However it backfired with all of the injuries. They didn't think Gudbranson and Kulikov would bring them a cup and thought Yandle and Demers would bring a cup. We have drafted poorly past the first round. We passed on Saad and took Grimaldi. We traded a pick if we had kept we could've been got Tarasenko. We took Rau over Gaudreau. More bad drafting too.

Biggest problem is Rowe. He has ownership bullcrapped up. Until he is OUT, this will be the norm. He sucks.

after having Keith Yandle for a year and a half at a bargain 2.6 million because Arizona had half the cap hit, I would have lost my mind had the Rangers given him 6.35 million cap hit per year with a NMC until 2023.

He's soft. He has NO shot. He is weak defensively. And he is entering his 30's.

He can skate. He can pass.

It's not worth the price tag.

These types of players are the "analytic" darlings that get you nowhere fast...unless you count getting to the bottom of standings.Tyson Barrie is another example, all offense no defense.

Even though many still are pissed over the departure of Gudbranson, Yandle hasn't made anyone think he was a great acquisition. The defense is no where near last seasons caliber, and it was only slightly above average then.

The player decisions were absolutely the right ones. Gudbranson and Kulikov are average 3rd pairing Dmen on pricey deals. Firing Gallant was a bad move. Even if he wasn't the right coach for the team, the team loved him.

How could the player decisions be the right ones? Even if you discredit the releases, how do you defend the acquisitions?

Seeing as the quoting is still broken for me, this is to PanthersGoal

Yandle and Demers have been a MASSIVE improvement over Kulikov and Gudbranson. You traded two defensively challenged players whom provide little to no offence for a pair of two way defensemen that perform better than the guys they're replacing in every situation across all 3 zones. Marchessault may have been the steal of the summer. Reimer was signed to be there in case Luongo shows his age at some point, as he's good enough to be a starter on about 10 to 15 teams. Heading in to the season, the Panthers were regarded as one of 3 teams that boasted 7 top six forwards (my Jets were there too). You don't have a single long term deal left to sign and you still have cap room. You don't have any bad deals. The Panthers, once they figure out their identity, are set up to win now and long term.

So far, Marchessault is the lone solid deal. All others are extremely questionable. I don't care that they let Gudbranson go, he's a liability and not much more than a 3rd liner. No matter what you say, the biggest problem with the franchise is that ownership believes that Rowe has the answers....on everything...and clearly, he does not.

Tom Rowe is a puppet for ownership. When you fire the coach that early in the season his replacement should be hired immediately. Rowe is a gm/coach with no nhl experience. Ownership bought a franchise and put all his ex-army buddy's in place also with no nhl experience. Still think DT likes his new gig?

Still don't know about Tallon, thats a head scratcher. He could go virtually anywhere, and had he been slighted, don't you think he would have. I have several different thoughts on this since his "promotion"..but look, he could go to 10 teams in 10 minutes if he really thought he'd been shyt on. But, I'll grant you, it's a weird situation.

no idea whether he liked losing several of his players and much of his team support staff but for sure...he knows players and he knows the game the new guys know analytic s and went out and fired their defense and then fired their coach and Dan explanations of gee whiz, we're just losing the close ones and we have injuries ---and having senority in suffering has nothing to do with nothing......hockey games are won and lost by little things every night and toughness and grit doesn't mean punching an opponent in the face-- it means that they keep playing hard and make good decisions under stress....soft guys don't do that and they lose close games ....that will never change...this team is soft

I agree that Rowe is a problem. Going full advanced stats was smart, but not letting Tallon handle it was stupid. Rowe is asleep at the wheel.

Not that the outcome would change but Rowe you are supposed to pull Luongo on the pp at the end of the game. Just thought I'd mention it in case you didn't know

I don't see how anybody could still be defending this ownership team. I've never seen a more clear cut case of incompetence in hockey management. A division winning team with a franchise record regular season with a young core, on top of a 25 point improvement in the standings the previous season.... the ownership touches it and it immediately sinks to the bottom of the standings.
