Sakic shouldn't make a single trade. He should be fired, then the new GM can make some moves.

I am really not sure if I was TM that I would be willing to give up the piece need to get Duchene or Landeskog. BUT IF I was to consider giving up pieces the trade might look like this and it would be a very bold trade.

Now lets get this out of the way. I would take either Duchene or Landeskog; BUT I would prefer Landeskog over Duchene

To Buffalo
Landeskog
Meloche

To Colorado
2017 1st round Pick (Not Lottery Protected)
Evander Kane
Either Baptiste, Carrier, Bailey

Now I know people are going female dog about Evander Kane. However since Eichel has been back he has 6 goals. Kane has value on ice. However his off ice stuff is BS. If he can stay out of Trouble and if MacKinnon works well with Kane and Kane pushed or breaks 20 goals next year you could get a 2nd first rounder for him

God no. I'm going to Gallant. If he says no I'm going to the college ranks or junior ranks. Rest of the coaches with NHL head coaching experience that are available stink.

The Sabres have enough offensive talent to score more goals than they currently are producing. You can add 3 more power forwards or whomever you want, but if Disco Dan has them all worrying about where they should be instead of letting their natural instincts kick in... then they will all be garbage soon after their arrival. Bylsma has to go. He lost his best Assistant Coaches (except for Murray) and now the results are more clearly evident than ever that he simply is not the guy for the job. His system or whatever it is simply is not working for a team without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin leading the way. I think the players showed what they thought of him demoting Eichel, too... lack of on ice effort is a clear message to management that they have had enough and are not buying into the current program. So either Murray has assembled a bunch of underachievers or Bylsma lacks the ability to bring out the best in them... which is it?

You wouldnt be LOL if that lottery pick ended up being one of the Top 3. Then Col would be saying I would give you Landeskog+ for that pick. Not only that but every team is Lottery protecting their picks during trades. There has not been 1 team who has traded a number 1 pick that is a lottery pick before the lottery. Which means they are way more valuable than the average fan like you realizes. The Jet's who were number 6 got the 2nd overall pick and The Blue Jets who were 4 got the 3rd.

So yes the new system a Lottery pick is way more valuable so LOL all you want. Having 2 top 10 lottery picks for Col. would really help them out rebuild.

If Murray has to trade Evander Kane and Zemgus Girgensons for Duchene, then so be it.
Get real, Garth. You'd have to throw in a 7th and some BBQ from the Dinosaur to get this deal done.

Yes the Avs core seems to be a steaming pile. I am failly certain Sakic will not start selling players for pennies on the dollar. (Duchene /Kane).
The core of the Sabres is still not a certainty. Bogosian, Kane, Lehner and Reinhart are unlikely to reach their potential. ROR, Jack and 55 will only take them so far. GMTM like the coach are both fools gold

Garth, it's pretty rich to see you praise a player for exposing the "Fight Club culture" of the NHL when you yourself take great delight in reporting almost every fight in which Sabres players are involved. In most cases, you write about them with a gloating, "my-dad-beat-up-your dad" tone that shows that you not only condone fighting, but it means so much to you that a Saber beats the stuffing out of an opposing player that you can't even be bothered to report on the fight accurately.

Downie is the dumbest player I've seen in a Pens jersey. His tweets do nothing to negate my opinion. He does have some skill, but zero talent between the ears.

I am confused. I read Mike Harrington's article this morning. He questioned the future of both the coach and GM. He chronicled some of the dubious moves made by GMTM. It's all there. The Sabres have 55 and Eichel. ROR is a great #2 Centre but is he really worth 7.5mil? The Sabres are in last place in the East.

Rome is burning but I keep hearing how great things are. As SabresBuzz says...."the Sabres are surging...its all a matter of trickle down" what?

Excellent post, partner. This is why I visit Sabres threads. The unbridled optimism is hilarious. Prior to the season fans were expecting to be in the wildcard race, not picking before Vegas, talking about how GMTM 'always gets his man' ( except for , well, pretty much everyone they'd target). So far all I have seen is a bunch of bad trades and some whiffs at the draft.

Sabres looked like were 2 years ahead of T.O. In their respective rebuilds but The Leafs definitely closed the gap, and looks like they already have more impact players under 21 at this point. Kadri has become almost every bit as good as O'Rielly at half the price, Reilly is almost as good as Risto ( better, in some aspects), and it looks like Mathews is the greater talent than Eichel.
Heading down the roster most areas of depth seem to favour the Leafs, with Nylander and Marner appearing superior to Nylander-Reinhart.

The Leafs also have a far superior goaltender and considerably better prospect depth in the pipeline.

Yeah I really dont think its close at this point, especially when you look at the young guns, but even comparing veteran to veteran that may be part the respective long term plans, or even simply viewed as trade assets it favors the Leafs.

kadri =RoR
JVR> Okposo
Bozak>Ennis
Komorov>Kane
