Blueger assigned to WBS today, Maguire to Wheeling. Have to get Oskar into some games here because he is eligible for the expansion draft and if Vegas is smart they will take a shot on some younger unproven players to help grow the team faster.

Wouldn't that be a reason to keep him buried in the ahl where he'all go unnoticed?

Pretty encouraging we have two players in the AHL that can step in to needed roles next season. Jimmy R has done a heck of a job building this team.

You mean Ray Shero? Most of the AHL guys coming up were drafted under Shero (Rust, Kuhn, Murray, Jarry, Wilson, Bleuger, Sheary--undrafted but signed), minus Sprong & Simon.

LVS should have better options than Sundqvist to select. He's not a potential high impact guy. He's slotting as 3/4C. At this point looks like a high probability guy of hitting his bottom 6 potential. LVS would be better off targeting troubled kids with higher ceilings like a Yakupov or something similar.

I disagree, Sundqvist is tearing up the AHL in his role this year and I see his ruling being someone like Anisimov who is a good 2 way player that can take defensive end draws, kill penalties, and chip in offense. And it takes all kinds of players to build a roster. Good quality centres, even bottom 6 ones, are vauluable.

I would rather Pouliot play even if it's not for the Pens. If he turns into the player he supposed to though it will be another Marcus Naslund and that will suck.

Sundqvist, Guentzel, and in a pinch they have Simon, Archibal and Rowney who could handle sparse NHL minutes. Bengsston is still a sleeper, he was incredible at the rookie tournament, but getting sick really threw him off.

Definitely nice to see Sundqvist progressing well at WBS. The resigning of Cullen gave him some more seasoning in the minors.

Speaking of Cullen he's picked up where he left off last season. His shortie the other night turned the game around.

I take it you missed the comment that 1/3 of the roster that is playing in the NHL was drafted/acquired by Shero... Sheary, Kuhn, Maatta, Dumo, Rust, Murray, Wilson... not to mention the prospects Sundqvist, Guentzel, Jarry, Blueger...

It's not nearly as bad as it used to be. The WB5 would all still be in the AHL if we were talking about old management. I'd probably put Guentzel in for Wilson and Kuhnhackl/Sundqvist in for Fehr, but that state of affairs is not nearly as egregious as it used to be when we were dressing Pyatt, Glass, Adams, et al on a nightly basis.

As another poster mentioned above, Murray, Rust, Geuntzel, Jarry, Archibald, Kuhnkackl and Bleuger were all drafted under Shero, the only reason the Pens won the Cup in 2016 was because of the impact of Shero drafts. Sure he missed on some 1st round picks as most GMs do considering only around 40%-45% of 1st round picks work out but he killed the later rounds and GMJR is reaping the benefits of Shero's drafts more every day.
