The boys seem to be following a very edmonton like path. Too bad we don't have the luck to get a mutant like Mcdavid to save us. I'm not hoping to re-start the rebuild here but for a re-tooling of sorts. I think the islanders tampa or the caps could be good trade partners to shake up the team a bit. We might have to ship out a guy like landeskog or duchene for a decent dman and a prospect or two. I'd prefer landeskog. Have never been a fan of his undisciplined penalties. In my opinion the only two that should be safe are Mackinnon and Rantanen. I'd imagine Sakic is really regretting throwing that kind of cash at Barrie now. To me he's no better than a Vatanen Ellis or Spurgeon. If there was any way to get rid of him for a cheaper comparable puck mover i'd do it as fast as i could.

Barrie has his warts defensively but he is worth his money. People make the assumption he pads his stats on the PP. But he has been one of the best even strength point producing Dmen in the league. This year and over the past 3 years. Teams would still kill for a guy with his skill set.

People crap all over him but he is paid to do what he does. Puts up points and pushes the pace of play. However out of him, varly, then duchene, they are probably the most likely "shake up" trade pieces the Avs would explore. Not that its bc they are bad players, just chances to move lateral pieces for them

Mackinnon is the franchise. He's a horse out there that drives the play and makes something happen every shift. He has a ridiculous amount of shots almost every game pucks just aren't going in for him yet. I laugh when I see people calling him a bust. He's only 21 and he's playing with a 19 year old just getting his feet wet in the league and an old man who made the team on a pto who's goals have all been flukey tips. Quit being a basic bandwagon fan and only checking stats and actually watch the game.

I agree with you. Duchene is one of my favourite players I don't want to see him go but you have to give to get. Which is why he would be one of the most likely in my mind. Hopefully for someone who is closer to the same age as Mack and Rantanen to make the "core" a bit younger.

Pshhh write me another story about how the Johnson trade was worth it, and not resigning O'Reilly and Stastny was for the best and the publicity stunt youngest captain landeskog. I watch the games bro maybe you should too. Mackinnon is good but he should be better... just saying, chill ya wanna be fanboy.

Can you read there fella? I didn't and never have said any of that. I actually agree with pretty much all those things you mentioned being bad moves. Hands were kind of tied with O'reilly but definitely wish he was still on the team or they would have been smart enough to wait and maybe get Seth Jones out of Nashville for him before the Johanssen trade went down. Thanks for your input there Pauly D. Ill try harder to "chill" next time "bro".

Sorry I know it's hard to understand, but what I'm trying to say is quit defending Mackinnon and this situation we are in. He's getting shots.... we know, he better be for his pay and ice time. And saying it's because of who he's playing with?! Wtf, that 19 year old in my opinion is playing better than anyone and that pto guy is our leading scorer, THE PTO GUY! Again, Mac is good, but he

How to fix the Avs:

1. Barrie for Pacioretty. Or Trouba
2. Soderberg + 2nd for Eberle
3. Iginla for scrap metal
4. Gelinas for scrap metal
5. Mcleod healthy scratched for remainder of season
6. Greer, Compher and Bigras Brought up

Mack is just another overpaid player. He still has a lot to prove. So far he's doing a bad job. I'm not sure building your team around him is the smart move. A lot of ifs need to come true for that to happen.

Beating a dead horse here man. Johnson trade was worth it. Please tell me how hot Stewart has been since the trade? That trade was basically EJ straight up for Shattenkirk. Which is more or less braking even.

Stastny turned his back on Colorado. He told the franchise he would take a hometown discount during negotiations early in the season. Then turned around and said nah, he will wait out the year and test free agency. Largely because he knew it would be a dogfight to play top 6 with O'Reilly, Duchene and now Mac in the works for Center AND knew he could get paid what he wanted elsewhere. Enter, STL.

O'Reilly would have broken the bank. $7.5 mill a year cap hit means bye bye to either Dutch, Mack, Barrie or Landy. Unless you scrapped the rest of the top 6 and replaced it with more dumpster fire fillers who are bottom 6 quality. O'Reilly wanted to be paid and went where he could be afforded, which definitely wasn't Colorado.

Pipe dreams my good sir. Its not like they didnt try to sign both of these players. Not everyone is willing to take a discount, or even wants to be in Colorado for all we know. This is our hand of cards and we must play it. As bitter as it may be, it will get better. I hope.

Then who do you build around then, if you cant see Mack as a top line talent with his skill set, I dont know what to say man, you wont like anything about this team if you cant enjoy MacK as the talent that he is

Exactly. Who do they build around? Not everyone gets a Crosby, Ovechkin, Mcdavid, Eichel etc. type player dropped into their lap. Mack was and in my opinion still is the best player in that draft. Sometimes all you can do is play the hand you're dealt. So I'm not sure what you propose they do? You only seem to complain on here and not voice any ideas.
