Peter Tessier: Jets drop Preds but still more questions Be happy with the win and the performance of certain players but be realistic, there are still concerns with Jets' play.

Jets are definitely not there yet.
But lets be realistic, Myers will be an improvement over Postma. Little will be an improvement over Petan (who has been respectable). Perreault will be an improvement over Connor.

The Jets are on the right flight path.

Hey Peter,

What do you think the Jets would have to do to acquire a guy like Tavares?

I would love to hear what you think.

a) Persuade J.T. to waive his no-trade clause.
b) If the going rate for an Andrew Ladd is a 1st and a prospect, then, Tavares has to be worth a lot more than that.
It's not going to happen....

Trouba has been our best D by far!!!! We need to make this kid happy.

Helly has actually playes really well lately, i wouldnt have put the last few losses on him at all.

I like Petan's game, he is by far the one i can not see going back down. Time to let Connor play big minutes on the Moose for a ten game stretch.

Laine needs to play with a higher sense of urgency but not sure you can teach that.

It's starts with Scheifele and then you add a lot more.

You really think it would take that much? I was thinking:

Little, Roslovic, Burmistrov, and 2017 1st round pick.

What needs to happen with this team:
1: Little, Perreault, Armia, and Myers return.
2: Trouba and Enstrom never be split up again as they've been the best pairing in franchise history.
3: Stafford gets moved, with Burmi and Thorburn (along with Stuart) to the AHL.
4: Myers and Postma 3rd pairing. I don't care who goes where, Postma is miles ahead of Chairot.
5: Dano and Tanev ON THE CORRECT WINGS. Dano is a RW and Tanev is an LW. Every scoring chance they've had is when they switch to their actual positions.
6: Buff plays WAAAY less. He's been hilariously bad.
7: Morrissey plays more. We don't deserve him with the way Maurice has been handling him. He's been unreal.
8: Top 2 pairings all clear 20 minutes per game, nobody over 25 per game. Laine, Ehlers, and Wheeler move around as necessary.

Ehlers-Scheifele-Laine
Perreault-Little-Wheeler
Perreault-Dano-Armia
Tanev-Lowry-Copp
Matthias

Morrissey-Byfuglien
Enstrom-Trouba
Postma-Myers

9: Myers is traded before the expansion draft, allowing us to keep to the 7-3-1 strategy
F: Scheifele, Wheeler, Little, Perreault, Lowry, Dano, Armia
D: Byfuglien, Trouba, Enstrom
G: Hellebuyck

I would not trade Myers. I would be more inclined to expose Perrault to the expansion draft. After seeing what Petan can do, I want to give him a shot at Perrault's spot.

Have to do some disagreeing here.
Postma is not better than Chiarot. He's not even better than Melchiori (in my opinion)
Keep Myers. Defencemen are hard to come by.
8 skaters = Buff, Enstrom, Trouba, Myers, Little, Schiefele, Wheeler, Armia.
Expose Perreault, Dano, Lowry. We can only lose 1 of them.

World Juniors are coming up....wonder if Team USA would like to have Kyle Connor on loan. Might be a win-win for everyone !

Postma is our worst roster D by miles!!! I'd rather chariot or Stuart play any day

No way dano and copp should be on this team over petan

I have zero concern if Perrault is lost to Vegas

If management is convinced trouba is here to stay and will eventually sign, I have no problem moving Myers. I see the right side third pairing D as Poolman's next year

It's hard to imagine Stanford, Burma and thorbs on this team next year. I do see Stuart playing out his contract as our 7th D

Copp and dano also have to worry about their spots next year. Raslovik and Lemieux both bring elements that neither those players have.

I might be wrong but I don't think Connor can play, raslovik can though. It's not a draft year thing it's a birth month thing

My 2017/18 starting line up

Petan shief Laine
Ehlers little wheeler
Connor raslovik armia
tanev Lowry mathias
Dano

Morrisey buff
Enstrom trouba
Poolman Myers

Helle hutch

This scenario has us losing Perrault to Vegas and copp, Lemieux starting the year on the moose

hopefully not, but you are right, if we don't sign him by August he is a UFA. I believed him when he said he wanted to play one season with his brother at UND. His dad is also on the staff there and if he looked at our team he saw no opening. If he wants a shot at playing for the team closest to his home town, its the Jets. I've liked what i saw from him in the last couple camps.

Poolman has looked very good in the last 2 camps. I also hope we can retain him.

My lineup is supposed to have Petan with Little and Wheeler. Neither the quoting nor the editing has ever worked for me.

I think Petan might make Perreault expendable. Stuart is gone after the season as well. That said, Dano and Copp are all but locked in. Lowry was lucky to keep his job heading in to the season over Copp (Lowry has since improved dramatically), and Dano has a history of production and crazy underlying numbers at the NHL level.

Postma at best is an Ahl defenceman. He brings nothing to this team. I cringe when him and Stewart are on the ice. Ever notice when those two are on the ice, all the play is in our zone.
