So question for you:
Which D pairings would you like to see when Spurgeon returns? Hockeywilderness has a good article about this. My preferred would be:
Suter-Dumba
Scandella-Spurgeon
Brodin-Folin
These pairings give the team the best depth and scoring from top to bottom imho and as a plus, we wont have to see Spurgeon manhandled as often in the crease against the opponents top lines. This has been especially apparent in the playoffs the last two seasons. |

yeah those would be what i would do.. they will probably go back to what they were but along as those six can stay healthy i'm good with any combos really.. i think we miss spurgeon on the backdoor on the PP scandella missed a goal last game cause he didn't sneak down.. the rebound went right where spurgeon usually scores on PP's

I'd like to see that. I think Dumba's play could improve a lot playing with Suter and Spurgeon and Scandella have always seemed to be a solid pairing.
I wish Boudreau would switch up his "big" line, though - Put Koivu with Coyle and Niederreiter and put Staal with Parise and Granlund. Koivu processes the game too slowly from an offensive perspective to leverage the strengths of Parise and Granlund. We've seen Coyle-Koivu-Niederreiter put on many cycling clinics in the past and I just think their styles are more complementary. I think Boudreau would still have that "big" line, but I think the other line would generate many more scoring chances. |
