that is more or less a knock on the forwards screening or the defenseman blocking shots...
I would much rather Edler aim low and hope for a rebound and have it hit someones shin pads than 4 feet to the right/left/above the net from Larsen - Codes1087
So you would rather the puck deflects outside the blue-line forcing us to lose valuable PP time, and leading to one of the worst SHG against in the league? Or were we the worst? I forget. But that is what led to most of those SHG, and you want more of that? |

Isn't it normal for a guy who is 6'7" to weigh 250+? |

Come on! Sing along!
First Verse:
Oh, do you know the muffin man,
The muffin man, the muffin man,
Oh, do you know the muffin man,
That lives on Griffiths Way?
Second Verse:
Oh, yes, I know the muffin man,
The muffin man, the muffin man,
Oh, yes, I know the muffin man,
That lives on Griffiths Way.

lol no need to be so hostile about it buds, relax.
All I am saying is that clearly the PP needs a shake up. Edler has a reasonable shot (as we saw in the late goal to tie up the game against LA). Edler is clearly known to his the forward coming in to cut off the shot. All I am saying is Larsen is either snakebitten (as we have seen by his two posts) or his shots are quite marginally wide. I don't have an answer for why the powerplay is bad or what I think could improve it, I am simply commenting on someone's else's comment on replacing Larsen with Edler on PP1. |

I dont really think it needs a shake up. The Sedins/Louie missed most of training camp because of the WC, they are starting to look better as evident by their PP's in the 3rd. Larsen is a little snakebit, but he is handling the puck well, making good pinches, and getting a few good looks. Him shooting wide has created a few chances, which shows more smarts than Edler has done in that role. I let them continue to work it out, hes the best option right now IMO |

Sorry, my quoting comments is not working.
The thing with Vans PP is there is not enough penetrating the net. It looks great moving the puck around but not enough shots. Even when it's tired out the PK they can't seem to get enough shots on net that aren't blocked. The set up has change with Sutter moving to the half wall where Danny was, which is better because of the right handed shot. For the PP to be successful all yr they need multiple schemes to try and confuse the PK.
There just hasn't been enough different looks so the PK watches films and can read what Vans PP is going to do. |

Kaynine;
You are exactly right there and the same Ive been saying for years. The canucks core became very very predictable under AV. He had them playing the perimeter so long they forgot any other way. Since the canucks are sedins team they play the way the sedins want.
SHaking it up is the best option. Put a guy dead center in front of net for screens and for tying up those D that are preventing passes / shots.
With sedins on PP1 there is no reason PP2 cant have a totally different look strategically.
as said anyone doing tape on canucks PP can easily figure out just keep them to the outside and clog the inside. Its been the canucks MO for a decade. |

We are only 6 games in so definitely no need to hit the Panic button. Sedins are always strong possession and cycle players on the PP. I love the net front presence and screening that LE brings. I also like Sutter on the PP. The only question mark is that lone D-man between Larsen and Edler. I will say this though, Larsen is excellent at scaling that blue line with his head up looking for opening or passing off to the high forward. |

A relevant discussion though. If you are Willie D, and you are picking 5 shootout players. Who are they?
1: Horvat
2: Sutter
3: Baertschi
4: Ericsson
5: Virtanen/Rodin
Players who I wouldn't put in:
1: Burrows
2: Hank
3: Daniel

Agreed! And there is no reason why the PP2 shouldn't start the PP some times just to confuse the PK

did anyone else sigh as soon as they saw Burrows skate at center ice before his shootout attempt. Did anyone else say "called it" as soon as he did the same move he has for 10 years and miss the net? |

I think it should change game to game. Go with the guys that having some offensive success that particular game.
This is the same as a PP that does the same things. Goalies watch tape on what shooters do, if you change it up no one can prepare for who's coming at you.

So dorsett scores twice and you want him to go into the shootout... |

I think you either have slick shootout moves/hands or you don't. Danny and Hank are generally not going to surprise you with their hands, but Horvat and Sutter are the opposite. I would rather see Horvat and Sutter and Rodin shoot in 10 straight shootouts with a variety of moves rather than Burrows go 0/20 on the season with the same move. |

Sounds fecked but yeah!
First off chances of that happening are slim. Secondly shootout is about confidence as much as skill. If a guy is having a good game he is full of confidence. Besides, a goalie can't prepare for a shooters tendency if they don't have film on them.

I don't have an issue with Burrows getting the opportunity still he has been one of their best in the shoot out for a long time. His backhand move is unstoppable if pulls it off.
Only Vrbata was better last year on the Nucks and Burrows ranked 27 in the league. |
