Great. already in last place and now cant even evaluate if Lehner is a possible #1.

The trainwreck continues

Quite a pessimistic outlook. Lehner will miss a game or two with an illness, Nilsson should be getting a start anyway. The Sabres need to score more, that has been there undoing in most of their losses. Hard to win when you are only scoring 1 goal.

You have a point Rip. But at the other end the Oil is in first place . 5-6 games in makes it hard to make a fair judgement. We played only 4.

Fowler even being in the conversation for the Norris trophy is laughable let alone winning it.

Really?? The 'rebuild' is done. No more picks to move, goalie picked, trades made. Top draft choices selected. When you watch this team you're thinking "oh yeah....we are on our way"? Because I thunk....same stuff....different names.

But I guess as long as they're 'getting pucks deep and finishing their checks' everything is going to be fine.....at least in last place

He does make sense. GMTM has made his bed. Committed to to contracts $4M plus to Kane, ROR, Okposo, Ennis, Moulson and Gionta. ROR is a great player, but is he a $7.5M player? Okposo is good but is he a 7 x $6M player?

Ristolainen and Eichel are gonna be good, but they will need to get paid. So will Samson. Where is the $$ gonna come from? The jury is still out of expensive investments in Bogosian and Lehner. Any trade bringing in top young talent (ie Fowler) will cost good young players, not pixie dust, as is often mentioned on here.

GMTM has mixed in ingredients together and started to bake his cake. Who knows how its gonna taste

Who said the rebuild is done . More moves are still going to be made . They improved by 27 points last year .

1st) They're not in last place, they're 29th

2nd) If they win in reg tonight, they will jump anywhere from 23rd-18th

The groundwork has been laid for the rebuild, and we won't know if it will pay off for a while. I think jumping to this assessment four games in is a little absurd.

i cant stand ennis, but the contract he signed was fair at the time. moulson and gionta have contracts that will be off the books soon. lehner has a cap hit of 2.25 this year, then rfa, how is that expensive?

Both Moulson and Ennis are on the books through 2018/19 at $9.6M combined
True about Gionta. He's a UFA after this year.
The thing about Lehner is he is a RFA after this year. He'll want bigger money. 4.5-5M per year. If he's not worth that dough, they will have to admit they erred trading a #1 for him. It will be a tough call based on his inability to stay healthy
