I recall the demands that AV adopt a more entertaining style. I wonder if Willie has had that criteria taken off of his to-do list.

Great game by the boys last night. Markstrom has been so good and they are getting enough offense to make all that defense pay off. I'm looking forward to a big challenge from the Kings.

Funny how this past summer in here I mentioned how I would not be shocked to see an Oil/Van 1st rd matchup...and was mocked...

Kings will be a test. Not a great start for them and they should be hungry.

Canucks are doing well but do you really want to use your told you so this early?

You only get one, you can't flip and flop as the team goes through stretches....unless of course your name is Vantel of course

Not just directed at you, I tried reading through the end of the blog and it was filled with similar sentiments.

I thought a team needed to have a 19 year old HOF member to be eligible for the October Cup?

Proof that despite the cries for more exciting/entertaining hockey, at the end of the day all that matters is that the fans seeing the home team win.

Good morning....you know, you're right that they should always try to win, that's why they play the games. But, just to elaborate on my stance, I'm not against icing a competitive team, I'm against doing it at the expense of draft picks and youth. That's what I mean by that. I wish he'd draft more!

I'll say this for Benning, which I've done many times. I like his drafting thus far! In two years he's finally built up a small prospect pool that we haven't seen in many years.

Well said and I get what you are trying to say now more. It's more clear now then the other scathing posts.

Just adding that what we have been told is that sending some draft picks away was to fill the team development gap and age group ....

So we now have Baertchi, Guddy, Sutter and Granlund... to bridge the core between the coming up BB, Horvat, OJ, Guance, JV and new draft picks shaking out.

Benning said he's now done with that and will keep his drafts so he'll keep adding to the future which may help in a couple years or be the next link 4-5 years from now for the Horvatt, BB, JV core types ....

Sure wins are key.... but they weren't snoozer game gamers either ... the first one had less chances given the line combos

Bu hey can we have our cake and eat it too ....?....why not with the good two way capability .... would be possible with adding JV and Rodin to the line up... hmmm

He's got a ban under his belt, (took on Leafman no less) and it's throbbing pretty mightily right now.

Worst case scenario for Vancouver

They'll win just enough to scrape into the playoffs, or finish just out of them, never finishing low enough to get their next future Superstar to carry the torch after the Sedins leave (or inevitable slow into a 2nd line/support role)

5 more years of Benning and no real playoff success, will lead to a change in management and another 5 years of rebuild

Trying to win now is just kicking the can down the road
