That was one of those wins you do not see coming. Suddenly they got a surge of energy from that first goal and then began the onslaught of pressure the Sharks could not handle. It was a crazy fun win. They reached down deep and said we can do this. Great win that shows how tough this team really is when it counts. MAF was strong again too. And the last minute or so it was the Pens who were holding the puck. That is a good sign of our ability to close it out.

As good as the Pens have been with coming back from multiple goal deficits under Sullivan I thought the game was over after the second period. Heck of a gutsy performance by them.

A fantastic win. Good to see us get one of those garbage goals back (SJ goals were weak, IMO). Even better that it came from 72. Wilson's tally was brilliant all around- great turnover forced by Hornqvist, good pickup, speed, and shot by Wilson. He's Kunitz 2.0 if he stays healthy. The depth of defense on this team amazes me. Down to 4 D, the Pens were able to stay on top of things. Well done, Sully and Co. So that poses the question...assuming those same 4 are the only blueliners returning Saturday, who gets the call? Oleksy? Percy? Erixon?

Well looks like we'll have at least five defensemen for next game. DP to IR and Warsofsky to Pitt.

Had nothing to do with reaching down deep. Games are won on the strength of graphs and charts.

This is exactly the Malkin we want to see when Sid isn't playing. Lets hope Malkin stays healthy for all 82 + playoffs

If he gets injured, would these two be acceptable Malkin's:

Good to get a call up that fits under the cap but man this blows for Pouliot. This was his chance to gain some ground. If he's on IR its probably something half to fully serious, which will stop any developing he might of been doing.

I think this shows the reasoning behind Sid's Conn Smythe votes. Without him playing HBK gets caved in.

Eh. HBK was pretty (frank)ing badass when Malkin was out. They don't need the uber miss matches that comes with being the third line to be effective. The team as a whole needs to step it up and get it in gear.

When Malkin was out Sid still played against the other teams top line

I'd like to see this Malkin when Sid IS playing. The pens haven't had both of them on top of their game at the same time since the 09 playoffs. I'll settle for a healthy Malkin for 82+ though.

Justin Shultz has quietly played well this season.

It makes sense that Pouliot gets injured after playing an effective game.

Schultz was good at keeping it in and getting it on net or to open shooter. I sure am glad we kept him. Some wanted him gone.

Capfriendly has Murray on LTIR. Does anybody remember hearing this? Somebody had to be on IR between Sid, Murray, Sheary, and Letang just because of the 23 man roster limit, but I don't remember hearing about anyone. Murray on LTIR would make the space for Warsofsky. Otherwise if Pouliot is only on regular IR, I don't know how they have cap space as they're over 73M even without Dupuis. I just don't remember Murray being announced as on LTIR.

I'll be interested to see a Maatta-Schultz pairing if they go that rout. Something tells me they'll put Warsofsky with Olli though.

I think they are putting him on ltir. With all the other injuries we probably had to put someone's on ltir just to fill close to a full roster. We might still only have 5 d. The fact we may have been forced to go lair with him might indicate that his injury isn't necessarily super severe. Could be a 2 week thing but we put him in ltir because we need the cap
