Should be an interesting matchup. Both teams have good young players and some solid vets. Leafs seem to be buying into their system better right now and I think Andersen in net could prove the advantage that tips this in net.
Don't really see the Matthews vs Laine matchup either. Different players completely, both highly talented and skilled but very different game on the ice for their teams.
Looking forward to a fast game tonight though. |

It should be an interesting game. Two teams with a lot of young talent matching up.
In terms of the possession stats, well it is hard for these things to have evened out yet. Only 2 games for the Leafs and 3 for the Jets. Although the Leafs should be fine on that front. They were solid in that respect last year, but they just didn't have enough skill to score despite outshooting the other team and holding onto the puck.
Regardless we can't really make much out of those stats. It's only been a few games for each team. Wait at least until the 10 game mark before worrying about team possession stats.
Agree for all sides it has to be more than the 2016 draft matchup. Although it's not like the teams can ignore Matthews or Laine either. Both will be dangerous and need to be watched. |

I've had #1 and #2 at the same time a few times in my life. It is not fun. |

Nonsense. If Team A has 80 shot attempts that all miss the net, and Team B only has 30 but they all end up in the back of the net, Team A is clearly the winner. |

Team A needs to stop giving Dion Phaneuf the puck |

Ross77, I like what you wrote in the Fowler blog. Here is what I suggest be done:
To ANA: Chase De Leo, Paul Postma, 3rd Round Pick
To WPG: Cam Fowler
Anaheim gets salary cap relief to sign Lindholm. They get an Anaheim born player to market and Paul Postma may get a chance to play more minutes, possibly with Lindholm. The Jets get a top four defenseman who can play the left side.
and then:
To ARZ: Jacob Trouba, Drew Stafford
To WPG: Max Domi, Michael Stone
Stafford would have to be included for salary cap deal and their GM seems to like taking player contracts that are going to expire soon. Trouba gets his wish to leave Winnipeg.
The Jets would add depth to the D by adding Stone, a Manitoba boy. Max Domi would be the main piece coming back for Trouba.
What do you think? |

I think it will take a lot more than Postma and De Leo to make that deal fly... |

Look there's not a ton to talk about. I could do some player profiles but I can never get the info I want from them
As for possession stats I made a point of saying to watch this game closely based on the two team's structures and such especially with the rookies and talent. I think that's the really story line- how these teams fit all that talent on the ice and how they are deployed. |

This is the closest to a reasonable deal(s) I have seen so far.
Maybe make that 3rd a 2nd for ANA but that's nitpicking.
This is solid framework

these are the fairest trades I've seen you post. I am not that familiar with Stone so not sure if i'd prefer him or chychrun? also i do think Arizona is actually up against the cap so not sure if they could take Stafford as well but the frame work is there.
