Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Day: Ryan Miller uncertain, Jake Virtanen scratched Jacob Markstrom will start in net against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night as Ryan Miller is questionable with what's being called 'tightness.' Jack Skille will see his first regular-season action as a Canuck, subbing in for Jake Virtanen.

Its funny how this market loses it on Sbisa, when Flames nation are full panic on Dennis Wideman, and the Ducks can't believe they have two more years of Bieksa. I still think Edler-Tanev should be our go to pairing - but Tanev with Sbisa, and Edler with Larsson is intriguing.

Blues have one of the best lineups in hockey, unless they have a poor game, or Markstrom stands on his head, I don't see this as being particularly close.

Also, as much as it pains me, I think it's time to send Virtanen down for a multiple game stint in the AHL. I SO WANTED BENNING TO BE RIGHT ABOUT JAKE

Kinda thought the Alaska Aces would be convenient so we could at least recall players like Gartieg on emergency basis like this.
Virtanen being disciplined by team for his tactics last game?

Coaches and Management aren't going to draw any more attention to what he did. He is definitely sitting for not playing well.

Its been two games!!! Give him some time - we gotta be patient with the kids - if he doesn't improve after 10-15 then sure send him down otherwise we want his development to be with the big boys.

Players earn their reputation and critism.

I may have been the hardest on Sbisa but, in the last game of preseason I said in here don't worry I am not going to complain all year.

When the season started no one in here has complained about him so I don't think you can say we lost it on Sbisa

I think you're right about Jake. He needs to go down and dominate the AHL for a bit. It will do wonders for his development

Maybe during the world cup, safe to say a few on here had some swings at old Sbisa after the one awful outing against NA. Other than that, Vantel is right, people have laid off him on this board... for now.

I'd drive him to the airport myself. Have NEVER been a Miller fan, I've hated that signing since day one

Miller trade would mean we would have a goalie coming back. OR.

Markstrom/Bachman

Demko/Garteig in Utica.

I highly highly highly doubt it is anything more than Miller just not feeling quite right.

I don't care how many games it's been, you can see he needs some "meaningful" minutes, he's not getting them. To me he looks lost out there because he badly wants to be in the NHL but he can't figure out if they want him to be a banger and crashes or a scorer.

I think he needs to go down, work on his scoring and build confidence. He's a 6th overall pick, he needs to produce offence.

I agree....likely nothing....but we're it a trade and it was going down now....they wouldn't likely get a player here by game time. Hence emergency backup would be needed in either scenario

Way too early, but he likely would benefit from some AHL time

My biggest fear for him. Most players will do everything they can to stay in the lineup. The easiest is to play simple and physical, which as Lefty is saying is not what you want from the 6th pick. Once Rodin is back, I think he goes down if he doesnt take a step forward offensively
