As I said at the end of the last thread, go on and beat Chicago, come home with 5 out of 6 possible points and this will be an extremely successful road trip.

The non call on goalie interference though was very frustrating. Is it too much to ask to expect the on ice officials to be familiar with the rule book?

The game was horrifically officiated... out-of-position officials, blatant things let go, chintzy things called, a player who was lucky to serious injury due to a very late whistle on an icing.

And, yes, the goaltender interference non-call was the exact set of circumstances under which the goal disallowed, no-penalty on the attacker is the correct ruling.

When jake stick gets taken away from him and carried across ice and an official has his back turned than we get called for a penalty I would be angry as well. The officiating was worse than inconsistent it was downright awful.

I saw fan boards speculating simmonds could get a call for his elbow any thoughts on that ? Would suck to have Schenn simmonds gudas mdz all out.

They got a point in a rough spot. Less than 24 hours between games on the west coast. Good job by the boys

There really is no excuse for this, the NHL needs to address the lack of quality officials.

Giving Jake 2 and 10 for his outburst is understandable and no big deal. Adding on a gamer though, was just spiteful and should be rescinded by the league. It was a bush call by a bush league ref. The NHL should be ashamed of the so-called officiating that we saw in Arizona last night.

Nice goal for Read. Shame he couldn't convert that MacDonald pass in OT.

Can't do much about cheating refs except move on to the next game.

Cheating, no. But the officiating crew had a brutal night. I rarely talk much about officiating but it was hard to avoid in discussing last night's game. It was perhaps the worst-officiated game at the NHL level that I've seen in several years, on a start-to-finish basis.

Its the new NHL guys. Bad officiating is part of it. Officiating has been on a massive decline for a decade.

turnstiled a flat-footed Chychrun

I read this part and had to check to make sure it wasn't a Flyers game story from 1990.

Its my fault his play has declined, honestly.

For Xmas and right after Xmas of last year I received and bought 3 Giroux jersies. So naturally he wants to leave Philly now.

Jersies I have:
Pronger - Season of his eye injury
Primeau - his last season.. Still breaks my heart
Lindros - before the start of the series with NJD where he died on the ice
Kapanen - season before his last. Dude was tough as nails
Richards - He was traded almost a few weeks after I bought it. Still pissed about it.
Forsberg - before he played his first game with us
Hammarby - Damn fine goalie
Crims - Stalked Forsberg in the showers. Very creepy.

I got side tracked. What the hell was I rambling about...

Points leader after 2 games:

Manning and Konecy tied at 3 pts.

Never would have seen that coming.

I'm not as mad at the officiating as I am the inconsistent effort by our team for 60 minutes. For me this could set the stage for the rest of the season and has been the calling card of the Flyers for years, where we know this team is better than their opponent but isn't giving it they're all every shift.

The too many men calls, like it or not, sloppy line changes.

I felt the non-goalie interference was the right call.

Simmonds elbow could have been that or a charge, either way a notable player got the attention of the refs with a minor injury.

While their were bad breaks and the Flyers picked up their play, the game was sloppy at times. I agree 100% that Voracek having his stick stole by the eventual game's winning goal scorer is BS because the refs go ahead and call something really tricky tacky on Giroux but I just feel like it never should have reached this point. Guys are gonna have to get their heads into the game because children and 4th liners are out shining players we need to lead the charge.

Bad officiating is in every sport. Sunday will prove this. NFL officials are part timers. People who I'm sure don't really care. They get paid, they go home, they do their other job or whatever it is they so on Monday.

Well, Konecny is really not that surprising, but Manning, yeah, wouldn't have called that one.

Good points, the only thing I disagree with is the goalie interference non-call. The rule clearly states that it is the offensive players responsibility to make every effort to not interfere with a goaltender while the goalie is in the crease. The Yotes player made no attempt whatsoever to avoid hitting Mason. While a penalty was certainly not warranted, the goal should have been waived off.

I have no problem with anyone who feels this way but I think a lot of us knew was going count. I didn't see enough intentional contact and I'm sure the argument on the ice was that Provorov was the reason the Yokes player was allowed to be there and possibly pushed the Yokes player a tad. Was it Martin Hanzel? Hanzel shouldn't have been allowed to be there to begin with.

At the end of the day, I can't complain too much. The speed is there, and the offense actually looks pretty good.

I said it last night but Jake was an idiot in OT. Stick stolen or not, he tried to force back footed shots/passes thrice on the preceding sequence in the offensive zone. Wtf was he doing.

Game reminded me of the Eagles game last week in that it was a game they should have won, but the did a lot of stupid and got some bad calls against them and ended up losing. Annoying, but I'll live, and 3/4 ain't bad.

Konecny getting no protection surprises me very little.

So you missed the game then?

Simmonds goal doesn't happen if not for a great rush by Giroux.
He setup multiple chances in OT...
