Showcasing Baptiste for a trade with the Ducks? Baptiste + Girgs for Fowler?

With eichel out, its a chance to showcase girgensons as well. Last year was one im sure hed like to forget. That being said, if thats the cost to bring in a young defenseman who can play- and take time away from gorges, im all in.

doubt it

girgens was on the 4th line and 3rd fewest minutes on ice, behind deslaurers and moulson

11 1/2 minutes of ice time

larsson got 17 1/2 minutes
grant got 14 minutes

for some reason this coach uses girgensons as an afterthought

He is what he is. Its not a stretch to think kulikov and bogosian are gonna miss some time. Im fine with gorges being here, but i want his minutes sheltered on the third pair, either showing nelson the ropes or trying to cover for franson. Not being thrown on the top pair with ristolainen.

I was puzzled to see grant get the minutes he did, including second pp unit...didn't really do much for me, but he is a new toy

whichever played better last night, I thought was going to get the call up

nylander, carrier and bailey have a higher ceiling

baptiste has a higher floor in 2-1 games

it seems this team does the opposite of what I would do, every time

Yeah, thats a thing. Bylsma must really dislike him, and that isnt helping things.

But right now he is doing nothing on the ice, the other night I only noticed him one time when he toe dragged the puck around the defenseman and then lost it. did he even have a hit? I don't remember if he did.

Hes not a player i hate, but i want his role to be easier. Theres gonna be too many opportunities for bylsma to lean on him with the depth the way it is.

It's just one game, but is there anything impressive about that blue line at all? Jake McCabe and Ristolainen look like the only mainstays back there, the other 4 (I have never been a Kulikov fan, watched a ton of him) should be replaced, or bumped down a pair.

it's the hand that was dealt him...trading for fowler, imo, does nothing to enhance the blueline
