@Kucherovski...
Nah. You gonna tell Sid, Ovi, Stamkos, Gaudreau, etc. to stop being creative? If a player that takes chances generates more scoring opportunities then the 1 or 2 turnovers he has, that COULD possibly lead to a goal against, you accept that risk. For example, Letang/Subban/Karlsson usually have a lot of turnovers.. why? Because they try to make creative plays, and their offensive production FAR outweighs their turnover-->goals ratio.
When he starts turning the puck over MORE than he is generating scoring chances, then there's a problem, as of right now, he's one of the Lightning's best players on the ice. I was at the game too, and I had zero issues with Drouin's game. |

Kucherovski is a dunce. Drouin was probably the best player on the ice last night and he is trying to poke holes in his game. Claims he turned the puck over when he didn't. |

am I the only one who thought coburn was the worst player on the ice last night? eventually they split up coburn and nesterov and sheltered them with hedman and stralman because of how awful they were. the fact that koekkoek isnt playing in the top 6 is ridiculous. coburn took a penalty for the first goal and was out there for the 2nd and 3rd detroit goals before they finally changed the lines to shelter him and still finished with a minus 1 when we scored 6 goals. |

No excuse for Koekkoek to not be in the lineup. And aside from Hedman and Stralman, you could replace anyone with Koekkoek and it'd be an upgrade. |

Guys who never have the puck and are constantly hemmed in the defensive zone never have giveaways. Need more of them. |

So is everyone now sweet for Drouin to play in the NHL?
How long ago were there comments in here saying he wasn't a top 6 talent? How many made it known the guy was just not up to it defensively? Shouldn't be in the NHL because he hasn't earnt it right???
Guy is a NHL talent & should have been kept up - look at the proof when Yzerman had no choice but to play him at the end of last season! Other GM's giving it to Drouin & his agent just for wanting to play in the NHL & not be a pawn used up & screwed over by the organisation - good on him & (frank) those cockheads!!
I really hope he gets paid big time! |

I dont think anyone in here has ever doubted drouins talent. Nobody really wanted him to be traded. |

Not many said he deserved his chance in the team, most criticised his decision not to turn up in the A. Very critical of 'his' actions defending the decision of your GM. |

But thats not the same as questioning his talent. He needed to work on his 2-way game and was acting like a child when he didnt show up in Syracuse. Drouin was dangerous in the offensive zone since his first shift with TB, but Cooper wanted to shape him to a real nhl forward.

Posters were commenting he wasn't ready for the NHL. Now not ready to play in the NHL means what? He has proven he was ready.
You seem to be fixated on the technicalities of what people say - Bishop UFA Johnson RFA are not the same but both are 'FA's'. Comparing Bishop & Johnson as you did previously by saying both are FA's is technically correct, but what you are not admitting is both are different & completely unrelated in terms of Vegas picking 1 in the expansion draft.
Now what I'm commenting on was people saying Drouin wasn't ready for the NHL & you say that no one questioned his talent?? If your not ready for the NHL then in my book your 'talent' isn't ready for the NHL??? So to question his ability to play in the NHL is questioning his talent isn't it in this case??
There were also comments of Drouin not being capable of playing up to his draft pick. Now is that questioning his talent?? |

...just like they are to koekkoek in this very thread. |

Look back, I commented in here supporting Drouin. There were a couple that did support him but a lot didn't. Don't be offended. |

Takes more than talent to play in the NHL. I think the way he reacted to being sent down (when he was struggling and needed minutes to get back into shape after an injury) proved that while he had the offensive talent he wasnt there mentally. Not to mention his defensive game and willingness to get to the dirty areas changed significantly upon his return in part because of his shift in mentality.

Maturity vs talent. Looks like Drouin has learned his lesson so it doesn't really matter now. |

I don't understand why we scratched him at all. He's ready to be a second pairing Dman and we're scratching him to play who...Nesterov?
Reading too much into it (put on your tinfoil hats): There's no chance we're trying to move him, is there? I certainly hope not. I guess they could try and package him with Flip for a stud D (Trouba?) and maybe they're rolling out Flip so he can prove he's still got it?
Hope Koekkoek slots in tonight and I am just overthinking it |
