I so wish Frk lights it up in Carolina and scores 30 goals this season. Nothing would make me happier than him making Blashill and more importantly Holland look like complete morons.
Best thing for a lot of Wings prospects right now would be to get the (frank) away from this team to a team that will give them a fair chance at an NHL career. Next up should be Pulkkinen, Jurco, Sproul and Ouellet to a lesser extent...run away from Holland for your own good as fast as you can. |

Yeah, right, no room on the roster with 8 bottom 6 forwards.
The party line is alive and well with this one! |

Seems highly likely. I mean, he only scored 36 goals in the AHL over the course of 3 years. He had one good year, and 2 TERRIBLE years. I don't know if that is the kind of guy I am willing to gamble on.

The only AHL season he really played in the AHL was last year. The other two previous years they had him stuck in Toledo. Oddly enough the other player that this happened to was Nestrasil and the Canes claimed him too which might be why they claimed Frk thinking the Wings never really gave him a chance either.
Either way i just wish he does it not that it's highly likely he will. I do think Frk had earned at least a chance to show what he can do for the Wings but like most of their prospects, none of them even had a chance no matter how they played. Holland had the roster set in July and nothing but injuries was going to change that. |

Good point. 2 years in the AHL, he wasnt even good enough to play there.
oh shoot, was that not the point you were trying to make? yikes!
I think the fact that he got sent down from the AHL is a HUGE indicator that he probably wasnt NHL ready. Like I said, he had 1 good year, and two TERRIBLE years. Years so terrible that he couldn't even crack the AHL lineup. |

Lots of wings prospects that have been traded, or claimed off waivers seem to be able to play in the NHL with other teams. Might be some kind of indicator. They can say mantha and aa, Russo just didn't play well enough to steal a spot but it didn't really matter with the contract situation they couldn't stay even if they got 50 points in 10 games. |

Which ones? I know Jarnkrok managed double digit goals a few years after we traded him. But thats a few years. He was going to leave if he didn't get called up. And he wasn't going to get called up, so its either trade him and get something for him, or lose him and get nothing.
Nestrasil hasn't done much since the Canes picked him up. Hes a 4th liner at best, a less talented version of Glendening. |

Too slow for the nhl - Zmloste
Nope his speed looked fine for the NHL. He's never going to be one of the fastest but his speed is fine given his style of play. |

He wasn't in GR because his game did need to improve and GR was loaded with way too many players because the Wings were loaded with too many vets with no room for prospects. Who the hell knows maybe Blashill hates the guy and doesn't want him on his teams and had nothing to do with him being able to play in the AHL or NHL.
Also newsflash Wings starting goalie started in Toledo too...maybe he sucks too and not good enough for the NHL Coreau played in Toledo too so might as well just write him off as not good enough with one decent AHL season.
Sometimes players just need an opportunity to show they belong and many prospects for the Wings don't seem to get that. |

My guess is it came down to Pulk or Frk, seeing as they are both similar style players.
Good shots, don't skate well, not great defensively, and small.
Frk always seemed like a guy who played to the level of those around him though, but I doubt he ever does any damage. He isn't good enough to be a top 6 forward but doesn't play well enough defensively to be a bottom 6 guy. |

Did you See Caoeau's stats? He did suck. And because he sucked, he got sent down. And guess what, he was bad down there too. Thats why he spent time down there the following season. Once he got it together he put up good numbers, and was brought up. And then he stayed up because he continued to put up good numbers.
You can try to make excuses all you want, the fact is, guys dont get sent down because theyre playing well. Not in any sport ever. Sorry that you are high on Frk, but he just wasn't that good. |

So,
I see both sides,
I understand holland has created a log jam and basically that creates casualties that should have gotten a real shot, especially coming off a good season
but the truth is, this kid needs minimum top 9 line up time, more than likely, top 6 to even really tell, but we already have that pretty much locked up, with Pulk being a fairly similar player, and also needing that same top 6 time,
you cant get everyone in those slots it just isnt viable and there for the weaker guy gets the boot, its unfortunate,
but im more worried about AA not being in the lineup, when he absolutely earned that spot last year and is better than OTT and even glendening IMO,
Or how they say straight up best guy gets the spot, not even "tie goes to the vet"... but we all know theres 0% chance they send ericsson down and literally let a ton of money rot in GR for a while when for sure other guys are better and will be sent down
I mean we know they wont do this, but why wouldnt you ice the best team? and ericsson simply doesnt fit into the best team we could ice, and AA should absolutely be in the lineup
its very frustrating |

I know some of you have already whined and cried about AA (and Mantha, even though he needs more development) being sent down, but here are the facts:
1. Kronwall won't be ready for Thursday, so they "have" to carry 8 defensemen to protect themselves in the case of another injury occurring.
2. If you do your math, this means that we can only carry 13 forwards as opposed to the typical/normal 14.
3. If Holland sends a quality forward through waivers and he gets claimed, you will b***h and moan that he's an idiot for not keeping that player on the roster or not utilizing that asset for a trade, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda.
4. When Kronwall is healthy, which will be soon, he can send a defenseman down, and recall AA, without potentially exposing a waiver-exempt forward and losing him for nothing. What this does instead, is replicate what would already be happening on Tuesday when final rosters would be submitted if Kronwall was healthy, by exposing a defenseman by bringing our carried amount to just 7.
He's actually doing what is in the best interests of the organization. AA will spend a week in GR and be recalled because he deserves to be on this team.
Now, if somehow AA doesn't get recalled, I can agree with you that Holland may have lost his mind and ability to field a competitive team, but I would bet on #72 hitting JLA ice in October.
As far as Frk: I would rather he made the team than Pulkkinen, but Pulu does have more skills that fit an NHL game, and a much better pedigree. Frk is bigger and I think can fit a Holmstrom game if playing with a couple of elite players (solid body, strong balance, good hands) but he's pretty much useless otherwise and I don't think he would ever crack the "Top 6" here.
I'm honestly surprised that Ott made the team, but he played significantly well during camp and the preseason, and that 4th line with Miller and LG has some chemistry going on. Playing Tatar and Z on Nielsen's line is also a really good combination by Blashill. They might have trouble getting to the blue paint, but they are all talented and this would (I assume) give Tatar the ice time that he deserves. |

Im not upset about mantha, or even really Frk, but AA really did a good job last year at the NHL level, if they do what you say and call him up after Kronwall gets healthy,
who are they sending down?

It's pretty subjective as to when a player is ready and isn't ready unless they get a chance. Other teams choose to use there prospects a lot sooner for cap control and they seem to fill the voids quite well. The fact still remains that this team doesn't have a first line. If anyone still
Thinks zetterberg is a first liner than your hockey knowledge should be called into questions.
The nhl is a young mans game, the wings haven't noticed that yet. |

Pros: Put Happy Gilmore's shot to shame, can't think of much else.
Cons:
Small, weak, can't skate, slow release, always female doges about the net being regulation size, and not a great two way player. |
