Options are good but, no matter how you pair them, it still won't be enough to make much noise come spring.
Don's done a good job of restocking the cupboards with picks and prospects.
Excluding core players, there's plenty to offer for a top pairing defenseman via trade.

They will place Morrow on waivers and he will be picked up by Chia Pet in Edmonton. Okay maybe someone else, but he will be placed on waivers and snagged by an other team, hell maybe in the divison, Toronto?

It's been inevitable with him as he has not been given the chance to play consistent minutes.

Well, Sweeney said that nobody will be blocked from making the team if they've earned it. Seems like Carlo definitely earned it.

Morrow just isn't that good at hockey. we need to face the music on that one. The Seguin trade has been an up and down disaster.

Carlo, Chara, Ehrhoff, Krug, Liles and the Millers should be out 7 d.

Trade McQuaid. For anything at this point. O'Gara should go down for seasoning but he should be on the roster full time before the seasons through.

McQuaid extension big mistake at this point.

Anyone else see or hear about this? Saw on my hockey rumours.

On the Anaheim Ducks and Boston Bruins …

Jeff Marek of Sportsnet: The Bruins had targeted Trent Frederic in the 2016 draft. They thought they could get him in the second round, but leading up to the draft they caught wind that the Ducks – who acquired the Maple Leafs 30th overall pick – were planning on drafting Frederic. The Bruins made the decision to draft Frederic higher than they may have wanted at No. 29.

Seems a little comforting...

I think you need to make a spot for Carlo.

Moving Morrow for Yakupov would have been a good since Chiarelli took absolutely nothing in return.

Time to move either McQuaid or K Miller. I would lean towards McQuaid. They're the exact same guy. Miller is the cheaper option.

Time to decapitate Radko Gudas. What a female genitalia. Philly is such a garbage organization.

Sounds a lot like the Oilers and Senyshyn the year before. It still doesnt excuse the fact that you need to select the best player available, regardless if you feel someone will be there or not by your next pick.

And if you really want Frederic, trade lesser picks or picks in later years to get him. Dont select him two rounds ahead of where he is projected to go.

Sucks for the Flyers, but Gudas deserves a suspension. Stupid, uncalled-for hit.

Fine, but seriously screw the rankings, anything out of the top 10 or 15 is whatever. Great players are constantly getting drafted all over the place. Look at stupid Johnny hockey. He was like a fifth round pick?

If Boston scouted the guy enough to believe he really is going to be a really great penalty kill 3rd line guy, then great. I'd take a guaranteed PJ Axelsson over a bust of a Hamill or koko any day.

Its really not about the rankings. International scouting services provide decent ranks, and I will be the first to admit that they are not always correct. However Frederic is FAR from a guarantee, and there were other players that should have been selected. But I digress, because I guess this what we can expect from the Bruins at the draft now. Hopefully the kids pan out to be what B's brass imagines them to be.

To become a transition team. The goal is to have a faster, mobile, skilled back end that moves the puck and makes a smooth 1st pass out of the D zone.

Apparently.

On another note. Interesting choices on D. Do you think it gets any easier for them considering that McQuaid and K. Miller really only count as 1 stay at home D man worth 5.25M. I mean, both are always (frank)ing hurt. We will be lucky to get 82 games with both of them combined.

Ehrhoff wont be getting a contract I guess. Looks like a couple of the young kids will get to see a little time on the back end.
