Very Sherlock Holmes of you Carol. I was feeling good about the trade for Granlund the last two games and thinking to myself , maybe Benning knew what he was doing.
I never thought of the comparison to Naslund just was happy he was getting better and better. It did come across my mind that this trade might end up being a steal .

I was going to post earlier that it was a win win for Cgy and Van in that trade that we swapped 20 goal scorers but too bad for CGY there guy did it in the AHL.

Great insight Carol.

Granlund is a great surprise so far. Hopefully he can continue to stay as hungry and continue to compete like he is on the chopping block.

I like Hansen on that line too. Lots of speed and very good defensively

Thanks Carol for the great blog, enjoying reading it every day! It would be great if Granlund could come anywhere close to Markus in many ways.

I think that maybe we'll see a platoon of Larsen and Stecher this year unless Larsen totally flubs it up.

Can't wait for the season to start.

I've liked Granlund the past two games as well. He's looked ok offensively, which is a nice surprise! Without knowing how comparable the SEL in Sweden and the SM-liiga in Finland are, I'd say Naslund was much more of a scorer or point producer than Granlund could hope to be.

The year after they were drafted Naslund put up 22-17- 39 in 39 game, the following year he put up the exact same numbers in the exact same amount of games.

Granlund put up 15-19-34 in 47 games his first year after being drafted and 10-20-30 in 50 games the following year.

But who knows what their roles were and how much ice each got.

That's what I was saying last blog. Too many new faces to really know what we have aside from goal and defence. That pressure is on WD now to figure out.

I think WD putting Granlund on the second line of Sutter Hansen is a smart coaching decision. I had him pegged as a 13 th forward

Yeah, I know it's wildly optimistic to even suggest that Granlund could match Naslund's career. Naslund was a first-rounder; Granlund was taken 45th.

But look at the mad skills of his brother Mikael. Maybe there is some untapped talent?

A speedy checking line that can chip in offensively. How great would that be?

Yep, I hope it works for him. If these guys click early, it takes a lot of pressure off WD.

He's looked good as a middle six forward which I wasn't sure he could do. So I like your optimism

Like Lefty said last blog. I'm okay with either end result this season. Bottom 5 or playoffs, as long a we see improvement from last years sh*t show.

"And look who's gunning to be the only PTO player in the entire NHL to earn a contract. Not one has been handed out yet, but Higgy still has a shot!"

Our old pal Mr Prust is still alive on his PTO as well, and the Leafs only need to cut 1 more forward to get their roster in shape... Currently at 15 forwards with 1 on I.R.
With Laich being waived today, Prust may be the veteran 4th line guy they want to keep around.

Injuries play such a huge part in a team that has little depth. Hopefully they can stay healthy!

So whats the consensus on who's got the best team in the pool? Phyllee has my vote but it's pretty close.
