"Just wondering, if Wedgewood becomes the backup and has a great year would it be time to trade Schneider for assets for the future or lose Wedgewood in the expansion draft? He would have to have a really great year obviously."
If it was Marty the last 3-4 yrs with Devils I said yes to get rid of him for assets, but with Cory and the team that Shero built rather quickly, I think its best to keep Cory. The goal is to win the cup as quickly as possible. If we do within the next 10 years it will be because of Cory. I don't think any other goalie that we might potentially get do that. He is top 3 in the NHL, you keep that on hand UNLESS you get a ridiculous offer AND already have a solid G to replace him with.

Completey agree. That why I brought up the question. Hell, I'm not gonna lie, I thought Wedgewood was gonna be an AHLer, but showed some promise last year.
And I only asked the question if we got a great offer to trade him. Also, at what point do we think about that? Lundqvist is great every year and the Rangers window, I think, has closed. And it's not like Cory has been a Devil his whole career. I think if you were to trade him and have a guy to fill the starting position, then the time would be next year because of the expansion draft.
Not saying we should trade him right now, but if Wedgewod has a great year and there is a great offer for Schneider, then I think Shero should at least think about it going forward.
