I am not opposed to Higgins or Korpikoski.....once everyone realized Bouma is a sham one of them will fit in nicely on the 4th line.

None of the guys listed will be on the team come October. I could possibly see a Higgins or Korpikoski playing in the AHL but not with the Flames...

I'd like to know if any of you see any of the kids at the Young Stars tourney making the team???

Higgins broke his foot in preseason last year and never caught up after that. I was kind of disappointed to see him get bought out of the final year of his deal. Didn't save the team much money and they never did use the cap space they saved.

I can't take OG seriously while he's sporting that ugly broad as his avatar.

That's actually big news. I guess the Flames now have 11.5 million of cap space. They can bring in a significant piece with that kind of money. Not sure what Russell's number is but if it's around $3 million, he'd firm up the top 4.

I feel bad for Smid (seems like a decent dude) and hope he gets better, but yeah this is good news for us.

However, I don't think we actually get the cap relief until the regular season begins, so it's not like we can go out spend Smid's cap hit on Russell.

Russell does not firm up our top 4, he anchors it. The only way I'd be okay with us re-signing Russell is if its for around 2 million, with the expectation that GG would be using him on our bottom pairing.

I'd much rather us use the extra money to sign Nakladal, we know what we are getting with Russell and we really don't need anymore 5-7 dmen (we already have at least 5 guys who can fill those roles).

Still not really sure why MacKinnon was standing where he was considering the puck was going the other way and there were two blue shirts at the puck. But hey, it was a pretty nice goal, and he was probably pretty tired.

I saw the breakdown of that goal (forget who the analyst was- Biron was one of them). Mackinnon was on the ice for 1.5 mins and had already gone back and forth like 3 times--he was gassed.

If he doesn't score that, or if they would've been scored against that shift he would have been ripped apart by the media (he did have a few chances to change and I think the coaches wanted him to). But they didn't and thanks to Gaudreau he gets to be the hero
