That OT goal was kanesque. His net front presence has been big for this team and needs to be utilized similarly in Colorado. Hope new coach is watching. |

They would have won that game clear and been in the semis for sure if it was not for the once again terrble officiating.
At the start Sweden could n keep up at all until the refs stopped calling penalties on Sweden and instead booked the kids. It was cheap, crap officiating. You see it ften enough n the NHL where a team comes out dominant and after that team goes up by two or three goals penalties stopped being called for the dominant team and instead anything that resembles a penalty by the dominant team is called.
I would have liked to see what would have happened if the refs made the obvious call in the first where McDavid was held and kept from his break away.
Every game I have watched has been full of terrible officiating. When a player smokes another player in the face with a punch in front of the ref and no call is made.... |

To be fair it is a article by noted Sabre's fan Garth. Anything that does not fit the Eichel/generational talent narrative is either discounted or simply not discussed.
Eichel will be a good player in this league for a long time but anyone with half a brain is beginning to see the truth that Matthews is a special player. One player began the tourney on the top line and ended up on the 4th, while the other began the tourney as the 13th forward and is now on the #1 line.
Oh, I forgot, this tourney doesn't matter |

Matthews also banged in a rebound. Eichel made a huge play in OT coming back and stopping a 2 on 1. Guess you didn't see that either. They're both good, get over yourself. |

Team NA's games were all so enjoyable to watch.
Do not think Finland will roll over and be Russia's patsy.
The history is too strong. Finland is a very proud country and Rask or Rinne and win this on their own.
BTW Risto is a beast!
I will be there watching this afternoon.
Go Finland!

Sure, but one is playing a huge role for team North America on the 1st line and the other is Jack Eichel (he's on the 4th line FYI). |

Why does everyone call this a U-23 team? Does the U stand for 'uber'? There are 23 year olds on the team, so it obviously doesn't stand for 'under'. |

Matthews also banged in a rebound after deking 2 Swedish defenders while stickhandling from his knees, then setting up Rielly for a one-timer in the slot and going to the net. There, that's better. |

It's 23 and younger. Used in soccer quite a bit. |

Maybe, but this is hockey.
The IIHF World Junior Championships is known as a U20 tournament because players must be under 20 years old. |

You asked, I answered. I don't see anyone on NA's roster that's 24. IIHF rules may be different than the WCoH, especially for the team that was made up just this year. |

Right, nobody is 24 - 23 is the limit. Like I said, it's a U24 team, not a U23. |

And like I said, in other sports, mainly soccer, U23 would mean 23 and younger. Clearly that's what NA is going for here, so it's really just semantics. |

Soccer also determines elimination/championship games with penalty kicks. |

Yes that is fact. They also play 90+ min. Usually 11 on 11 on grass. Two nets and a ball. Anything else? |

Yep, one more thing. The FIFA "U-20" tournament is for players under 20, not 20 and under:
The FIFA U-20 World Cup, until 2005 known as the FIFA World Youth Championship, is the world championship of football for male players under the age of 20 and is organized by Fédération Internationale de Football Association.
