Watching Laine play and there's absolutely no way there was any serious consideration for him as a #1 pick. |

The cops came by to bring Earl Lupul in
They searched the house high and low
Then they tipped their hats and said, thank you ladies
If you hear from him let us know
Well, the weeks went by and spring turned to summer
And summer faded into fall
And it turns out he was a missing person who nobody missed at all |

If he wasn't so really really really ridiculously good looking, I'd almost feel bad for the guy.

I think he will be a good player, but I don't think he has the complete game Matthews has.

Thank (frank).
I stopped watching a month ago.. I just couldn't sit there for 3 hours a night. It's too long, there should be a pitch clock. |

Matthews only comparison can be McDavid right now. But he actually plays a more similar game to Marner. McDavid flys past players along the boards, Matthews creates space in the zone, often from the blue line. Matthews is amazing in tight spaces..

If I were GM of the Flyers I would take Lupul. He is a good player when healthy, but obviously the deal would have to make sense. If the Leafs sweeten the deal the Flyers could sent Mark Streit who is in the final year of his contract for Lupul+
Leafs get out of the contract 1 year earlier and get a pretty good offensive Dman. You have to remember Streit was top 10 in scoring 2 years ago. Last season he missed 6 weeks with a plate detachment and when he returned Ghost had taken his spot on the top. PP which obviously affected his scoring. The 2nd unit does not get much time if any on the Flyers. At max they get 30 seconds out of the 2 mins and honestly that unit is garbage.
Flyers take a risk with Lupul and take on an extra year. Maybe he pans out and helps the Flyers or maybe he doesnt. Either way the risk is worth it to possibly have a full top 6. I like Raffl and Read but they just arent cutting it on the top 6. |

He is a one dimensional player. That one demention happens to be a great demention with that wicked shot. But you are right I don't think too many GM would of considered taking him 1st. |

At the moment, Matthews compares very favourably to Kopitar. Whether or not he can become the NHL player that Kopitar is depends on luck, management and the fans/media (somewhat) |
