Not if Smid is LTIR. Russell obviously doesn't have the marketability he was hoping for and Calgary wanted to sign him at what the Flames thought was the right price. $3millionish with some term and it's a done deal. |

Not only do we not have 2 mil in cap, but we already have a logjam on defence: Wideman, Smid, Nakladal, Engelland, I put them all in a similar category as sub-par. |

I loved him in Calgary. He was also a teammates of Methot I think with the Bluejackets. Why do I get the feeling he'll only get 1-2 years. I'd give him 2 years @2.5m.
