Bill,

Can one day you talk about maybe the "lower-profile" prospects that are not named Sanheim, Morin, Hagg or Konecny.

I think guys like Wilcox, Friedman, Bardreau and some others could be interesting. I would like your thoughts on some of them.

Thanks

Calgary won in '89, which wasn't the very next season... but point well taken.

So Simmonds will be 31 when he starts his new contract. He could be one of the biggest free agents of 2019 if the Flyers choose not to lock him up before then.

He'll be at a dangerous age for players his style, presuming he stays healthy the next couple years and would be looking at a big-dollar, long-term extension that would take him into his mid-to-late-30s.

I remember talking to McCrimmon at the Newark Airport Marriott when he was with Atlanta. He was adamant that had he not been traded the Flyers would have won a cup. He also said his trade was a beginning of the end for the 80s Flyers as a bunch would be dealt away in the next few years.

Out with Trayden and Trwayne, in with Lindblom, Laberge, Allison, NAK, Konecny, and whoever the (frank) we draft next!

But in all seriousness, letting Simmer walk or trading him beforehand seems so wrong, even if it is perhaps prescient. IF he took below market on the years, I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him, depending on how he does the next 3 years and more importantly, how the prospects do. He's been basically the epitome of health so far in his career, he's actually lighter and leaner than most PWFs, his skating while awkward is not bad. We see how the Great Inevitable Hartnell Decline is going....if he signed an age 31-35 deal or something, going into it still producing at this clip, and still a top 6 fixture....it's tough. It's all about trends. In 3 years is he trending in the wrong direction or staying the course? If it's the former, cash in and reminisce on the good times.

Yes, you and I have time. But there's a few old-timers on here who probably won't make it 3 more years. I wrote it for them.

i've already been questioned as to my whereabouts that evening. anybody who knows me knows that i would never, ever drink the swill they stole, let alone break into a store to get it.
