*Yorkton Saskatchewan not Yorktown

Could be a good hire, you'd hope to find a guy with more head coach/NHL experience but I'm guessing the pickings were pretty slim at this point of the year. Coward move by Roy, guy had to know his ass was out the door if the Avs didn't win this year.

Bednar is plenty qualified to be an NHL coach.

He's never played or coached in the NHL. That alone puts him at a disadvantage right from the start. He has a similar resume to what Glen Gulutzan had when he was hired as the head coach for Dallas. He has publicly stated that he was not ready to be a head coach at that stage of his career and that the workload that comes with an NHL schedule wore him out.

Could Bednar work out as a coach? Sure, but he is going to be facing one hell of a learning curve. I guess it all depends on how well he is able to adjust to coaching in the big league.

Anyone know what style of game this man likes to put on the ice? I am terrified he will have similar habits as Roy.

you honestly are being really simplistic about this man. Glen Gulutzan coached in the ECHL and AHL...never played in the NHL either. You think that bc he had a season and a half of terrible NHl coaching experience that makes him a more suited NHL coach? Thats crazy talk. Bednar won championships as a coach in the ECHL and AHL. There is a big difference there.

You dont have to play in the NHL to be a good NHL coach. Seriously dude

completly different. Bednar plays an uptemto style, real stressing on mobility of his defencemen.

Which indicates not having played in the NHL means you could be a bad, average, or good NHL coach aka not playing in the NHL has no correlation to your ability to being an NHL coach.
