Any idea on how much and how long Kucherov and Nesterov are looking for in their next contracts? Will lack of contract affect their status or availability at World Cup if they are not resigned before it starts?

I would say Kuch gets 6-6.75 AAV for 6-8 years. Nesterov i would prefer a bridge, 2 yrs around a million AAV.

Locking up Kucherov should be the top priority but only about 6.6M$ cap room left and that is after Carle buyout. Amazing how long contract negotiations seem to take with SY when there isn't a lot of cap left. It like a staring contest. 2017 - 18 signings will also be really tough.

It wouldn't make sense for them to play in the world cup without a signed contract even if they are insured for some amount. The KHL is an option for them but it isn't the NHL. Guess we have to just wait this one out. Another buyout might be needed to fit them in.

Interesting theory but he only gets $1.25M per season. I think long term UFA contracts don't work in the CAP era since they are too long and too much.

Looking forward to start of season.
