Players will love this stuff. Dont practice as much or as intense during the season and you have a better chance to win......lol

Darn. I had New Jersey in my Vesey pool.

This had all the excitement and drama of an American Olympic basketball game.

Bill, I'm way late to comment on the expansion draft article, so I'm going to ask it here in the hopes that you see it.

Shouldn't Gostisbehere be exempt from the expansion draft? 14-15 He played 2 NHL and 5 AHL games for a total of 7 professional games before his season ending injury. And if I read the CBA correctly, a player's first pro season is 10 pro games played, which Gostisbehere did not meet in 14-15. By that definition, 15-16 was his first professional season, so wouldn't he be exempt for the expansion draft?

So the Rags have no first round pick, so they sign Vesey.
I guess they would have gotten a much more NHL ready player at the #20 pick right?

Who is everyone? I haven't seen the org itself comment on who they may or may not protect, and fan speculation on blogs, rumor sites, and facebook means nothing. I've been waiting for someone like Bill with in depth knowledge of the Flyers roster and and the league itself to weigh in, and now that Bill has I'm just curious what makes Gostisbehere eligible. He and Morin both just had their first pro season, so I'm confused what makes one exempt and one eligible.

Didn't mean to come off like an ass, I just want to know why Gostisbehere isn't exempt now that a source I trust has discussed protecting him.

It goes by player's contract, not games played. Even though Ghost was injured 2 years ago, he burned a year off his ELC.

Yes, the Flyers should've drafted a 23 year old. Why has no one figured this out sooner!?!?
