Sakic should coach until he finds the coach this team really needs. Why rushing and pick someone from the "b" list?

If they were to do that I think they would just make Tim army the HC. I'm liking the idea of Travis green. But yes if you can't get your top 4 because other clubs are stopping you, wait till spring and try again. Don't mess this up. I would be okay with Sakic saying, "Tim army will be HC for this season"

I would be ok with any of the 4 on the list. All strong candidates, especially late in the season.

Arniel - HC experience, worked under Vigneault (would be my last pick tbh)
Bednar - Strong up and coming HC candidate, just came off Calder Cup win, already have Pratt on board
Green - Strong up and coming HC, Fancy stats coach, Estimated AHL pts added per season (coaching metric) at 5.4
Lambert - molded by trotz, great hair, and thats all I need to know

Green and Pratt (drolling)
I would order them Green, Bednar, Lambert/dineen, Arniel.

I could agree on this ranking. I would even add McLean/Arniel as the bottom choices but still wouldn't be upset about if they went with a more experienced HC route

I would not be okay with Army as HC for the season. The Avs' PP (Army's area of responsibility) was unproductive when they needed it to be good. Army may be a good guy and popular with the players. But he needs to go, now.

I disagree a little about with Army. That PP was his job, however lets not kid ourselves if his hand was tied under Roy to make it run through Iggy and hes not the guy who is sending Beauchemin over the boards to play on the top unit over Barrie.

He does need to be better when it comes to the PP howver I dont put it all on his shoulders. Roy micromanaged the crap out of that team

haha, that picture is great. What do you think of the singing? More of an AHL move or do you think he has a shot on the bottom 6?

I did say that. I don't think he is the long term answer, but if it means him for 1 year that will be okay. He helped duchene out of his funk, grigs really improved. Like coga said, Roy controlled that team, probably told army what to run. But like I said this needs to be a slam dunk hire. Nothing less, I'm also glad they are looking outside.

Larsen, Boughner and Dineen have also been interviewed. I don't know anything about any of the candidates in terms of how their style might fit the Avs personnel except from what I've read. Bednar seems to be very highly thought of.
Just get this selection right.

Well, apparently Army won't be the HC and I assume (please) that the new HC will bring in his own AC. I think Pratt will stay and maybe Army too for at least this year in terms of player development. But new AC's to handle the D, PK, PP, breakout and O.

Dineen and Boughner...and not mention here but is a name out there Lambert (not sure about Larsen), have been in charge of the forward groups with their respected clubs.

Seems like Av management are interview guys who run their forward groups with speed and puck management in mind...if you dont have the puck, get the puck, if you have the puck, keep the puck (to quote one of the BSN guys)

Which would mesh well with how Pratt ran the Dcore with the Monsters the last season....Dineen doesnt have the most encouraging possession stats when he was HC with the Panthers, but he did have a terrible roster, but wasnt getting caved in like the avs have been currently (who have a roster 10 times better than he did in Florida...his leading scorer was Tomas Fleischmann). Based on that logic you would assume he would have much better numbers with the Avs team currently.

Not gonna lie a little jealous that Minnesota changed their goal song to let's go crazy by prince and ours is some lame house/dance song that only chicks and teenage kids on drugs are into. We need a good older rock song for ours. Chelsea dagger for the hawks and Party hard andrew wk for pittsburgh are good ones too.

I've always thought the guitar intro from KMFDM's "Go to Hell" would be a great goal song, but I can't see them ever using it.

Word on the street is they are wrapping up the search for HC with Dineen a front runner. I'm pretty okay with anyone outside of Arniel at this point . I know it's only been a little more than a week but, man, I am tired of waiting! edit: Anyone know a time frame of when we should expect to see who's behind the curtain?
