At the end of the day, it will come down to family (Toronto, Boston), wanting to have a major role from day one (New Jersey, Buffalo), or winning (Chicago).

According to most leaf fans Marner will make the team. And even without Marner we have too many bodies. So unless some huge trade hinges on vesey signing with the leafs i don't see how it happens.

Vesey won't be signing with the Leafs. I don't think they'll run the risk of being accused of tampering/conflict of interest etc. on a player like Vesey. Stamkos, sure. Vesey, I'd doubt it.

Well, if you're as sure about this as you were about the bonus structure of Matthews' ELC then I'm convinced. Most people on this board are entirely indifferent about the whole subject anyway except for hoping he signs anywhere outside of Buffalo just to see Garf's greasy head explode.

Leafs will sign Vesey.

An independent arbitrator will find that Toronto contacted the Vesey camp in July (clear case of tampering) and will award Buffalo Greening, Michalek and Cowen as compensation.

His dad being a scout isn't evidence of tampering. Hell, we saw something similar last year with Mike Reilly. He left college and became a ufa just like vesey and signed with Minnesota, where his dad is a part owner.
