thank you much for the info carol.

I have wondered over the years....why hasnt anyone mentioned Doug maclean in coaching vacancies. He was pretty good with the panthers in the 1st year and took them to the cup final. Dont think anyone else has ever done that as a coach.

He was GM in columbus.... perhaps he's comfortable in the role he has on sportsnet.

I think if you get stuck on TV too long (or out of a coaching job in general) it makes it very challenging to get back to the NHL. Crawford did it for a while and left for Europe before getting another shot, Ron Wilson looks to be following Pat Quinn's route of coaching Jr's in hopes of getting another NHL job, so I think for someone like Doug Maclean to do it would be a 3-5 year plan, which probably includes poor paying jobs compared to his primetime Sportsnet gig

The more I think about it, the more I feel Adam Oates could be a darkhorse for the Avalanche. He has been very good on his CBC visits and seems the opposite of Patrick Roy with some experience behind an NHL bench

Washington was his only true head coaching gig, won the division in the lockout short season, finished 9th the following year before being fired. Was co-coach with Scott Stevens in NJ the following year after Deboer was fired. He was also an assistant with Tampa and in NJ when they went to the finals before those head coaching chances.

It'll be interesting how the hiring goes though, Sakic has decades of experience playing under coaches and I wonder how much the coach will be for what he preferred as a player (possibly returning to old coaches), or if he takes a new approach on it

Yawn...I'll check in a few hours when we aren't discussing another teams coaching vacancy. Lefty, make up a Twitter story? Nighthawk, trade proposal?

Benning tells Travis Green to keep on eye on seasons record after 15 games. If its below .500, WD gets canned, Green gets the job, and Boucher coaches Utica.
I am really trying hard to make up something here.

Green is the best fit in Colorado by a mile, with the young squad there.

He's also the best fit in Vancouver...

Willie hasn't shown me any creativity or any knack for positioning our projects to flourish.

Benning and Linden had better be on the phone with Green right now telling him that his opportunity is coming or he's as good as gone.

Let's just hope Sakic keeps his Avs alumni streak going and brings in Hartley for a run.

It's too bad Hartley was in Calgary just as iginla was moved, or he'd have another guy in his corner.

Richmond is fine until you encounter stop signs, roundabouts, parking lots and some roads with intersections.

There will be at least one trade before the season. Or we will lose a good prospectt via waivers.

I hope once Vesey signs somewhere another LW wing become available via trade.

Maybe Grenier, a defenseman and a pick could add a piece we need.

The roster is bloated with waiver eligible players right now. I would hope after the flack from Corrado last year that Benning will try to recoup assets rather than exposing decent prospects to waivers.

Last years flack over Corrado was highly overblown.
every team contends with those situations.

If you want creativity Greens the wrong guy most likely. It could just be the players he has been given but he runs a very similar offence as WD. I like Green and gets a lot out if his players but a lot of his success comes from a defence first style and pretty good goalies so far.....that said I don't know how his Portland teams looked
