Jan, perhaps I'm still just waking up and missing something obvious, but I'm a tad confused by this:
Overall Grade: D.
I debated long and hard about the grade. The C- may be a bit harsh but seeing how poorly Staal played and comparing it to what I gave Girardi, I felt Staal was a slight tick better than G. Not that this is saying he played well, but slightly better than G.
You gave him a D, but then imply you gave him a C-, but also say he got a better grade than Girardi, who I think was balancing between a D and a C. Am I misreading something? |

I debated giving him a D originally, then changed my mind. Thought I had changed the grade but guess I forgot to do so. Girardi was a D+, so gave Staal a half grade uptick from there at C-. The mistake was my screw up in not making the change. Thanks for the catch. |

Ah, no worries. Nice write up and analysis, as usual.

Him and Girardi just had awful years. If they played to their full potential the Rangers would have been dangerous last year. Hank can't do everything. |

Maybe it's the injuries for Marc, but neither he or brother Eric seem to age well. Jordan is still quite good but only 27. |

Both Staal and Girardi had surgery last summer and have logged a lot of miles over the years.
I don't think people realize that Girardi has played the most playoff games in franchise history.
Hopefully the first long summer in awhile help them both get back to being effective this year |

Shoots left, but I'm thinking Sean Day will be in the NHL sooner rather than later. |

The Rangers have enough D-man to revamp the left side of it. Skjei, Mcdonagh, Graves and Day all are lefties the right handed D-man the Rangers are Girardi, Mcilrath, Klein, Zborovksiy, Hughes, Andersson, Donnay and Paliotta. Need more depth on that side. |

Zborovskiy shoots right I believe. And outside of maybe Skjei, Day probably has the highest ceiling of the bunch. |

Last night NHL network had a feature on the Lindros trade. I had no idea that the Rangers offered Amonte, Vanbiesbrouck, Kovalev, Weight, 3 1st rd picks and 12 million cash for him I remember the arbitraitor reversing the deal but I forgot the players involved

he'll be in Traverse City and then training camp, but unless he makes Rangers it's back to juniors |

He hasn't signed his ELC, dumb transfer agreement has him either with the Rangers or Mississauga.
He should play for a pretty damn good juniors team though, Hague is likely a first rounder this year and McLeod, Nylander and Bastian will all be back. |
