With the Atlantic being as weak as it is, it wouldn't surprise me to see one of these teams qualify for the playoffs. Both teams are signficantly better than Ottawa, Detroit and Montreal.

Backes, a third liner? You probably should look up his stats over his career. Backes is the type of player you need in the playoffs.

Not sure I understand the comparison. Buffalo has some serious NHL talent in their line up. Not sure you can say the same for the Leafs. I like van Riemsdyk and Reilly. But there is not very much after that and I have grave doubts about the winning potential of all the little forwards the Leafs have drafted.

When you have a modus operandi (that's Latin for method of operation) of gooning other teams, Chara, Backes, McQuaid, Kelly and Marchand to name a few - then you will see a lot complaining by your terrific coach. BTW - not many successful teams currently employ this philosophy.
