I am pretty sure as soon as the Vesey situation is resolved, Hudler will be snapped up by one of the teams that is looking at Vesey. I still think Vesey goes to Chicago and if not Hudler does.

The matching contracts thing is all talk. Gaudreaus interview on Sportsnet basically says he lets his agent do it all & he just signs when his agent tells him to. So matching contracts are just a bunch fluff put out by players that really don't want to discuss their contract negotiations to pushy MSM. I agree with Dallas in the last thread, Monahan will get his $6.0 mill+ for 8 years & Gaudreau will get his 7.5mill for 6 years.
Probably not a bad idea getting these guys contracts expiring in different years. August is upon us & these guys will want their contracts in place so they can start getting ready for the World Cup of Hockey. No contracts, they probably won't play in that tourney.

Where is the chart that shows how much more difficult it is to be a good center over winger ? Is there a chart that shows the responsibility of a center compared to a winger ? you actually can't be a pro advanced stats guy and compare a center to a winger using advanced stats ...different variables in the positional responsibilities make the comparison inaccurate and basically false

I think you're right on the money with $7.5 for Jonny and maybe $6-6.5 for Jonny but they might both be looking at 6 year deals. That seems to be a fairly common number for the youngest players to come off their ELCs. It allows them reach UFA at age 26-29 which could help secure them another bigger long term deal.

Advanced stats are great but you really need only watch them play to see that Johnny is the better player and should get more $$. Mony is a good young center and is an important part of this team moving forward (future captain) but he is not Johnny. There is no doubt Johnny is going to light it up and he sells tickets and jerseys...and should be paid accordingly.

Everybody forgets about Brandon Pirri. He's a pure goal scorer and still young that would come cheap.

Don't know how to use quotes but the saying from Burke is, "analytics are like a lamppost for a drunk, useful for support but not illumination"

Anyone see Antoine Vermette as a fit? It's on the score saying the flames should take a shot at him. We don't need anymore centre depth and people in that age category in my opinion.

He is really good on the dot (around 56% his whole career) but that is about it. I guess if the flames wanted him for faceoff wins but I don't see him as a fit either.

He was bad enough for Arizona to use a buyout on him. Arizona! The team that has been on the cusp of bankruptcy since they've entered the league. No thanks!

But if you're looking for entertainment go to Tanner's blog and call Vermette a top 6 forward

Flames Nation reporting the Flames have signed Belarusian defender Roman Dyukov. 6'2 203lbs was a late addition at last years development camp.
