"Major Problem"? I would argue that their lack of Elite Goaltending and Defensive Depth are the real "Major Problems". Not whether or not a former player should be included in their PR/Marketing Plans. Just my $0.02

Some people will look past any faults a person may have if it means winning. Look no further than the Cubs trading for Aroldis Chapman. He has had many troubles off the field but he can throw over 100 mph so Cubs fans were on their feet last night welcoming their newest Cubbie.

Defensive depth?

Byfuglien
Enstrom
Myers
Trouba
Chiarot
Stuart

That's a list that would make a lot of teams jealous.

The perception of an organization can be tainted by those it surrounds itself with.

The hardcore fans will always be hardcore fans, but you aren't going to make more of them by celebrating people who have been in the news for all the wrong reasons.

I know that defensive depth comment was a head scratcher, especially since they have a pretty notable D prospects in Morrissey down in the AHL still. If anything Jets have some of the deepest D depth in the league

Bobby Hull hasn't been in the news for 25 plus year though. Does he deserved to have his jersey retired? Idk, nor do I really care. But I do understand that he may alienate some fans. Ask anybody under 30 about Bobby Hull and the response you'd get would be "You mean Brett Hull?"

This is not Bobby Hull's Winnipeg Jets! Why even discuss this? I would hope the fans are smarter than this, oh wait, Bettman sold them on the franchise, after moving it. I feel bad for the fans.

I'm not here to defend Bobby Hull the person. Heck, in my family's past there has been domestic violence, and I'm married to a minority.

This is about Bobby Hull the hockey player. A hockey player who in this day said the game needed to rid itself of the hockey goons. The hockey player who was accepting of playing with Europeans because the game was better for it.

In the days of the wha Bobby Hull was hockey in Winnipeg and the wha for that matter. The hot line deserves to be honoured for their contribution to the game, and Hull has to be part of that since he was a major contributor.

why "honour" anyone at all ? these guys shoot a rubber disk around... grow some balls people and honour some real life changers.

Wow. So this is about Bobby Hull's dirty laundry from 30+ years ago? How about honoring him for the memories he brought fans of the city while on the ice. The fact that the franchise is now in Arizona, and this one is from Atlanta is a whole other point.. which is the one worth discussing here in my opinion.

Um the Ducks have the deepest d corps in the league but the Jets are at least top 7. Lindholm, Vatanan, Fowler, Despres, Bieksa, Manson, Theodore, Stoner, Guenin. That is a very young but very talented group. But they should give us Despres back since they don't even need him.

Bieksa and Stoner are anchors there, though. They'd be better off ditching those two and bringing back the Wiz.

I'm not saying what he is accused of is okay by any means but to compare him to Nazis and Sandusky is a bit much, no?

I'm not saying he is that bad I'm using it for context in the arguments that have been presented. "it's 2016, times were different then" He's no Sandusky or Nazi although he does have bizarre views on Hitler.

Bobby Hull is in the Hockey Hall of Fame and Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. There is no reason why the Winnipeg Jets need to honor him. He spent more of his career with Chicago and his link to this Winnipeg Jets team is a bit of stretch with the franchise moving - not to mention it was a WHA team when he played for them. So to me the real question is why bother doing this now? But if the Jets need the money that badly and don't care about Hull being somewhat controversial then have at it. We should know better then to believe that all of our sports heroes are saints.
