Funny.

I was female doging to the wife that if I hear another high-level exec at my work say "have patience because I'm learning..." I'll lose my marbles.

People put into executive roles should be able to do the basic requirements of the job. A general manager of any business or entity should be able to communicate clearly to anyone listening.

Daniel Henrik ???
Baertschi Horvat Eriksson
??? Sutter Hansen
??? Granlund Dorsett

A lot of competition for jobs this year!!

Virtanen, Etem, Gaunce, Rodin, Burrows, Grenier....wow that's a poop list outside of Jake

Thanks Carol,

It is a really good point that most here, including, myself have assumed that Tryamkin would bolt immediately if asked to spend some time in the AHL. But the reality is he has full control and might be open to spending some time there.

I also like that Linden at least has changed his tune on Virtanen and the youth where last year he admitted they had penciled him in the lineup before camp and this year it sounds like he will have to earn it.

Absolutely nothing wrong with sending kids to Utica to develop if it is necessary.

You must work either in the public sector or service industry....

Linden was brought in to be a figure head and for the most part has done a good job of it IMO.

I would throw Granlund and Zalewski in the competition list as well.

How come nobody is pissed that we don't have Shinkaruk coming in as a top six scoring winger. He was doing great in the A and seemed like this would be the time to have a young scoring winger come in. Granlund should be Cracknell and the. We wouldn't need a Kane/Hartnell whatever. I don't mind Benning but that trade was crazy.

Old news.... and I'm sure if Shink actually proves something in the NHL it will be brought up.

I was pissed because it hurt the Comets more than I expected Shink to come in anytime soon and earn a spot.

Linden also said "We are under no illusions. I like our direction. There are no quick fixes."

Which to me means, he, more so than Benning, understands/accepts they're in a building phase not a going for it phase, as Benning sometimes alludes to.

I got second in a middle school track meet one time, I don't fret over that anymore either. What's done is done.

Benning didn't draft him, he was small, he was primarily a special teams scorer if memory serves me, water under the bridge.

Old news of a 7 month old trade. Seems there would have been room and to see if the youngsters could learn on the fly. Get those high draft picks and when Demko and Boesser are ready we'd be flying.

What did management say about that move? Trouble with Shink or what?

Provincial Health Care. It's amazing how much money is lost by inexperienced people in key positions.

I have no problem with Linden and under no illusion of way he was brought in. Actually, it's Aquaman's best move to date. Saying that, the president of a business shouldn't have to constantly clarify his GMs comments.

Lefty again posted Linden comments that contradict statements made by his GM. Frustrating.

Come on you're better than that.... PP is important and all good goal scorers tend to put up a proportion of their goals on the PP.

He had 11 of his 27 goals on the PP last year.
Granlund had 8 of his 25 on the PP his last full year in the AHL.

They said they thought Granlund was an upgrade on him because he was a gritty two way player and were not sure Shink's goal-scoring would translate iirc.

To be fair linden said that when asked how would mgmt feel about their plan if they miss the playoffs again.

Sounded more to me like he is hedging their bets.

Our goal is to make the playoffs.... but if we don't we are under no illusion, there are no quick fixes.

Benning is not a professional managerial person, he has trouble articulating sometimes, but, he knows what he's doing on the draft floor.

Trades and signings need some work though!

I feel your pain with him, and even Willie to be honest, but at some point you're always gonna have some growing pains with a person who's not filled a certain position ever before.

I said if memory serves me lol, I thought it was higher! Regardless, Benning and his team didn't feel his game would translate well into the NHL level, which I believe will be true at the end of the day.

I agree, just giving you a hard time. At the time that seemed like a relevant excuse for some..... You know who else sucks? Jamie Benn.. 17 of his 41 goals were on the power play

The difference to me is Linden says that's their goal, which is fair, but Benning says we feel we'll certainly be a playoff team or pushing for those wildcard spots. At least that my interpretation from listening to him, Benning. That's a mixed message because they mean two completely different things.

Linden is much more subtle in his message, he's much more refined.

you're cherry picking my argument. That was only a part of it. Jamie can do A LOT of things little Hunter never could.

Tryamkin can only bolt if sent down to AHL and doesn't want to. If they ask him and he says no, then they opt to keep him in NHL i don't think he can bolt simply by being asked.

I know, I know I just thought I would try to curtail that argument before it was started again.

Somehow after he was traded some people were trying to sell him scoring on the PP as a bad thing...
