Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks President Trevor Linden on Radio Tuesday, Expansion Draft Vancouver Canucks president Trevor Linden will be answering questions and taking calls during his annual mid-summer extended radio appearance and Vancouver ranks high in futility for sports fans, but the Canucks look like they're in good shape right now for the upcoming expansion draft.

On EDM being a "Rested Team" I think they will finish ahead of VAN this season, maybe even the playoffs.

It would be great if Vegas took both Shinkaurak and Granlund in the expansion draft, so we can put that trade to bed.

As he should, it's an idiotic poll conducted and answered by brain dead Leafs fans

I hear ya. I was listening to Kuzma and his interview on tsn1040 (I think that's it) and he felt strongly in the Canucks being bold and look hard at Evander Kane. If he can clean up his off ice issues and Vancouver would be a good spot for him it might cost a young player in return. Adding Kane and Ericksson in your top 6 would be pretty strong. Kuzma mentioned Sbisa (no thanks), Virtanen and Baertschi as options in trade (not all of them just names mentioned). Maybe there is a trade to be had and yes it could be a cost that most Vancouver fans might not like. For Buffalo to get a good young player from Vancouver for Kane we might have to throw in a pick or prospect to sweeten it.

TL asked about grit and toughness and he seems to think the team is well off with Guddy, Dorsett, Jake right now but says if the opportunity were to arise to grab another gritty forward they would look into it, nothing on the go right now.

Last thing the NHL & the owners wants is Edmonton to finish last and land another top 3 pick.

The league has clearly gifted them those easier match-ups.. Also for McDavid to become the next great one (and help market the game) he needs to be on a winning team or at least not be associated with constant FAILURE.

That implies that Baertschi is better than Kane, which he is definitely not. Off-ice troubles included. Kane's career stats have him scoring .30 goals per game, which over 82 is average of 24-25ish goals per season. Sven is only a year younger and has only 25 career goals

I agree Kane's value isnt what it was, but teams dont forget what he is capable of. Example: Radulov

And therein lies the issue. Buffalo will want to get back a decent return because trading Kane creates a big hole in our top 6. Vancouver has a cap to think about and not paying too steep a price for Kane and his perceived current value.

TL says it's not written in stone that Eriksson will play with the twins. Named Hansen and Rodin as 2 other options

Radulov has never played as well as Kane. Good comparison in terms of off ice issues maybe, but Kane is much younger and productive. At 24 years old he's pretty ideal skill set for what we need considering he's pretty consistently been in the 20-30 goal range his whole career and is a solid defender.

All that said, he clearly has some Major character issues. Worth the risk? Depends on the cost. Sbisa and the Columbus 2nd would be a win imo

I think a lot depends on if Vesey signs in Buffalo. Buffalo still needs some depth on defense and Sbisa isn't as bad as you are letting on.

How about Sbisa, Gaunce, Subban and a 2nd?

Linden just said he expects Miller to start the majority of games this year, but it will be close to equal
